Question about 1995 Volkswagen Jetta

1 Answer

The interior heat in my 1999 1/2 Jetta is very poor.

The heat used to be adequate, however I now have frozen feet from a 20 minute commute. (Not a diesel). I live in Winnipeg Manitoba and it is only February so I have a few more cold months ahead of me. Help please!

Well............Thanks. The coolant level wasn't the problem as I had a leak. The leak wasn't the problem either. The problem was that my husband was being very helpful and topping it up with generic coolant which unfortunately causes the special volkswagon coolant to turn to a viscous sludge. My car has coronary artery disease. Hopefully the angioplasty (flushing) and replacement of the thermostat will correct this. ($250) Kaching!

Still at the garage though, so not sure if this was successful.

    Thanks again

Hello sandra;im going to take you through some things that will solve your problem;;1get the coolant levels checked. 2;A 20 minute commute will not give your engine time to warm up.3 the vw jetta is one of the best you will buy for realiablity,so i would not suspect any thing other than low coolent levels if this fails to solve your problem;then take it to a vw dealer.let me know how you get on.adrian

You should start by checking the thermostat for the radiator. It controls the flow of coolant to your engine. Turning on the heater allows the coolant to circulate through another type of radiator. You should also check your radiator fluid to make sure you have enough( the fluid should be changed around every 5 years).

It would be worth checking/replacing the ignition module ( see if you have a spark when it WON'T start) . Coil assy are plentiful and the most likely given your description. Very prone to over heating and shutting down. Good luck

The interior heat and A/C fan is not blowing any air at all. I checked the fuses (#25 if the symbol is corrrect), but no change. What might be causing this? Thank you

Blower Motor Resistor Pack, The Blower Switch on the dash, or the blower motor itself which is on the passenger side of the dash underneath where passengers feet would be.
