Question about 1985 Cadillac Fleetwood
It could be a lack of gas. That is what it sounds like to me. I would recommend changing the fuel filter. Also look at your mechanical fuel pump. Check the psi and if it is above 30 then its fine. Reason i think it is lack of gas is. Your car has a mechanical fuel pump the faster you go the more gas it is put into the carb. Also you have a set scream on your quadrojet carb tighten it down to make your gas set to rich. This will give you less mpg but also will make more gas be put into the carb. Hope it helped. Also if you just installed a new fuel filter make sure its not in backwards.

You either have a trans problem or a fuel problem. change the fuel filter. changing to a different engine could be difficult, motor mounts could be in different locations, usually moveable. wiring and computers could be different (yes the last of carbuerated cars had computers) also check plugs, wires, dist cap and rotor, and air filter.

Sounds like a transmission problem, if you haven't checked your transmission oil level lately I advise you to do so.
I had a simmilar problem which disapeared by adding a little AT fluid.

This engine has bearing issues. Be careful before spending any money on it. If it's an issue assume you need to replace the engine if you'd like to keep the car. I loved my Cadillac!
