99 dodge avenger will not start. 2.5 V-6 engine

Replaced distributor last time and solved problem. This time however replacing distributor had no effect. What else could be causing it not to even fire?

My avenger was doing the same thing it ended up being the coil witch is built into the distributor so that means you need a new distributor thats the only way to solve that problem.

A few things...what are the symptoms right now? A bad ASD relay will cause the vehicle to NOT start. Two plastic covered boxes other than the fuse box in the engine compartment. The TCM...PCM...and other relays are there. You may want to swap like relays to see if you have a bad one.

turn key on and start car,let it die and check for fuel pressure ,find fuel line and remove cap that looks like valve stem for tire, press neddle un derneth ,probly have no fuel,if so repace fuel filter and pump.try to spray brake cleane in throttle body after it dies if it will run on brake kleen you have no fuel, replace pump and filter.

Maybe the batteries are dead. It could also be the engine or fuel system.

I replaced the distributor, coil ignition module cam position sensor and still no spark in a 99 dodge avenger what could be the problem

Often, modules and sensors are not the problem, rather the wiring that connects them. Check wiring attached to each of the items mentioned to see if signals are being transmitted to and from them according to factory specs. (specs are often difficult to acquire) Also check fuses. Not so sure about the 99 Avenger but most vehicles to not determine spark timing soley from the cam shaft positioning sensor, rather the crank shaft positioning sensor. Also, the ignition coil on late model vehicles are nortorious for failing because of heat cracking the plastic housing.

1997 dodge avenger won;t start. engine has no spark. checked the spark plugs, they look good.

Does your engine turn over, just not fire? if it sounds like it wants too start but its not firing, try your distributor. this happened to my car last week actually, went out and bought a new dist. and it is fine now. its a big expense, so try to find one at a junk yard and they say you can take it back if its not that. thats your best bet. hope it helps.

Just replaced spark plugs and filled all fluids...started her up twice..came out this morning..won't start at all..turns over but doesn't catch..replaced fuel pump, same thing

DID YOU SET SPARK PLUG GAP AT.0.033- 0.038 -THIS IS THE 2.0 ENGINE. IF YOU HAVE A 2.5 ENGINE YOUR SPARK PLUG GAP IS 0.039 -0.043.IF ALL IS GOOD REPLACE DISTRIBUTOR CAP + WIRES AND ROTOR.SEE WHEN YOU REPLACE PLUGS ALSO GOOD TO REPLACE CAP AND ROTOR ALSO.

98 Dodge Avenger 2.5L V6 isn't getting any spark.

Do you mean it's actually grinding while trying to start or it just cranks & won't fire?If it's the latter,i've had to replace 2 distributors on my 99 2.5 because the sensor which isn't serviceable has failed.

My dodge avenger doesnt start, i replaced rotor

you also have a coil and a ignition module that could be keeping you from getting spark. also there needs to be a trigger to fire the system usually a crank sensor have seen it run from a cam sensor though

Check if your wires are in the right places. Had the same thing on mine and found I crossed 2 of the wires.

My 1997 Dodge Avenger's engine won't start

Try cam and/or crank sensor. If crank to cam timing isn't detected properly it'll crank all day but won't start. I had similar problem on my 2.5L V6 Avenger....drove home fine, no engine light, next morning it cranked, but wouldn't start. The crank sensor was faulty.
