Question about 1989 Ford F 150

1 Answer

My F-150 has a E40D Transmission with about 217,000 miles on it. Its been well maintained and serviced. Recently, it developed the following problem. When I start the truck in the morning and put it in drive, it takes about 3 minutes for the transmission to engage. Can this problem be fixed without the expense of a complete overhaul? No other problems after that - shifts fine. Thanks, Tom

This is most likely caused by the seals getting hard, then they soften up and seal after fluid heats up a bit. You would have to overhaul to correct it.

What could be the problem with my 1993 ford f-150 e40d transmission it is shifting a little hard and when going slow it acts like its going into neutral back and forth

Check your transmission fluid and make sure it is to the full mark; do not overfill and follow the instructions on the dip stick. Look at the color and the odor if is not the color or odor of new oil if it has a burned odor, your clutches could be going and your transmission will get worse until it will not move.

50,000 miles what absolutly has to be serviced

There is a 60,000 mile service for that vehicle. I am assuming you have a 1500. It should have the oil, air filter, transmission filter and gasket & the PCV valve changed. Keep up with maintainence and the vehicle should last you. Regular maintainence to me is the best policy.

What is the average cost to replace a radiator in a 1997 Hyundai lantra. Are these low maintainence second hand cars?

Depending on the mileage of the car! Lantra can be a 'high maitenence' car. has it overheated due to the radiator leaking? They blow the head gasket fairly easily! aslo front struts seize. If engine hasnt had regular servicing they sludge up and wear out engine components, engine becomes very tappety and may eventually fail. It all depends if it has been cared for. hopes this helps. Transmission service

You say you don't tow anything and you only got 85,000 mi. on the truck i don't think it is neceassery. Just chg.filter and oil and blow out the cooling lines and you should be good to go. I'am not saying its a bad or an expensive procedure i just don't think its neceassery.
