1997 Toyota Camry When I use the remote to lock and unlock the car the horn and lights aren't doing anything any more

    not really if you can find the fault but if the ECU is playing up then yes as although one from a scrap yard might be ok dealer will not programme it for you,new only,but if you can find a complete car with the chip in the key ,the reader behind the key and the ecu then yes its worth doing.depending on what you have to pay for it,You sure this car hasnt had a weekend mechanic car alarm fitted??

You may have a dodgy door light switch or the doors are not closing completely. Does the courtesy (interior) light work? Does it extinguish when operating the remote?

i dont think that your 04 camry has a remote start unless it is an aftermarket installed keyless entry
and remote start. my 03 toyota remote has lock,unlock,trunk onfront of remote and panic button on

1997 toyota avalon will not crank or start horn blowing and lights flashing security light on.


Try unhooking your battery for about ten mins. This might reset your security system. You might also try locking all the doors and then unlocking with the key.

I unhooked the battery now i cant stop the horn and it wont start the remote key does not work it got washed in clothes help please.97 camry


Lock then unlock the doors with the power lock button, with all doors closed (key not in ignition). If this doesnt work, try again using the key to lock and unlock from the driver door, with all doors closed.

Remoe dont lock or unlock the doors. hazard lights, indicators and horn dont work.


You might have a blowen fuze. I would check that first. If it is blowen and continues to blow after replaceing it, then you have a short somwere in the wiring.

Hi Toyota Ed,
I can't see any black box under driver front seat. Will get husband to check when he gets home. This camry is late 1997, V6 auto, Model: MCV20 if that is of any help.??
