How do you know the battery is fine? Sure sounds like you have a weak battery- the symptoms are all the electrical bits work- except starting the car. All your electrical systems don't need much current, but your starter needs a lot. If your battery isn't fresh then your car won't start, but everything else will appear to work. You can test
the battery by looking at voltage across the terminals when you try to
start the car, if it's less than 12 volts your battery needs to be
replaced. If your battery is more than 5 years old it should be
replaced anyway. Good luck, let us know how it goes.
check the carpet under the front seats is dry,if wet, then the electronic brains for the car is suspect.if dry, wipe your brow and be thankfull,it costs as much as the cars worth(nearly).the best way to find the fault is to get it on a diagnostic, then you can decide if its something you can fix or have someone else do it.i take my own car in,as the cost of the diagnostic for an audi is too high for me.and it saves a LOT of hasle.......
Your window clips that hold the window in have broken. You will need to replace these clips in order to fix it right. The clips you can buy at any audi dealer. Ask for the most updated ones. There have been many updated clips. Audi has been trying to develop better ones for years but they still keep breaking. Its a very common issue. Your window will still go up and down but since the clips broke you will have it bind in the track. To get you by for the time been. Lubricate the window track with some silicon spray. This will help keep it from binding up until you can do the repair.
I had the same problem with my 2002 2.5 tdi, i spent weeks looking for the fault an found it to be 2 broken wires inside the drivers door rubber wiring loom ( near door hindges ). it was causing same fault no int/light - no central locking to drivers door - no electric windows. i managed to repair wires and it now fine..
I suspect that the wires on the left and the right hand side is in the bootlid are broken.
In the black tubes there are 7 or 8 wires depending on year model. I guess you have 8. You can easy fix this by yourself. If you have skill in soldering that is a plus but you don't have to solder. If you loosen the cables you can acutally feel with your fingers where the "bow" is on the cable that there are broken wires inside. Cut approx 5-10 cm on each side and replace with new wires in the same dimension. Then use electric tape (I used cloth tape as it s smoother and don't get stiff) to cover the new part of wires.
If you have an alarm in your car, remove the minus cable from the battery before you start.
Hi i have an audi a4 and the drivers window fails to open and close properly and there is a strange clicking when doing so. It sounds like there is a stone inside the window but i think it may be a mechanical fault with the electic window ........help
