P1381 is normally caused by

  • Cam Timing improperly set.
  • No oil flow to piston chamber.
  • Low oil pressure.
  • VCT solenoid valve stuck closed.
  • Camshaft advance mechanism binding (VCT unit).

  • There is a TSB out no 99-13-8 where you have to use a breakout box and jump pins 44 (pin 45 if vehicle has a returnless fuel sytem) and pin 103 while engine is at 2500 rpm to try and cycle the VCT solenoid and if it changes then just change the oil and filter.
If not then either the solenoid is bad or debris is lodged in the orffices.
How it actually works is the camshaft gear is advanced or retarded by varying oil pressure to it controlled by the solenoid. The oil galleries are very small and are easily stopped up.

I own a 1998 Chevy Lumina, took it to Advance Auto. I know what one code is what does code P0341 mean and how can it be fixed?

Hi, Im AL the owner of Big As Auto Repair.

P0341 is a code for Camshaft Position Sensor Circuit. The first thing you need to do sense its a circuit code, is to change the Camshaft Position Sensor. I don't know what engine you have, but if its the 3.4 engine the sensor will be directly under the Power Steering Pump. Remove the pump and replace the sensor, clear the codes and hopefully the sensor does the fix. If not it could be in the wiring or engine controller. Hope this helps and please visit my auto-repair-website and give me a thumbs up.

    94fordescortcode214engine light is intermittent

Engine Code 214 is Cylinder Identification Circuit failure. Since it is intermittent check to connector to the camshaft position sensor and make sure its a tight connection and there's no corrosion. If that doesn't fix it the CID may be bad. The Cylinder ID (CID) sensor provides crankshaft position information to the Powertrain Control Module (PCM). The PCM uses this information during engine start up to begin sequential fuel injection at the correct time. The CID is located in the back of the cylinder head on the distributor side of the engine.

    Hope that helps.

    Temp sensor

I'm not a 100% but it sounds like your camshaft position sensor went bad then caused the other codes to come up because the camshaft position sensor tells the computer how much gas it needs. So it started a chain reaction with the fuel level sensor, fuel temperature sensor, and knock sensor codes. The Fuel temp. sensor helps the engine to know how much fuel to inject as well depending on the temp. of the fuel. The fuel pressure sensor senses the amount of fuel in the fuel rail by reading the internal pressure of the rail, so that's what leads me to believe that it's your camshaft position sensor. Particularly if that was the first code that came up. Hope this helps you.

Engine cranks but will not start. Spark plugs changed, HEI distributorless ignition unit tested good.where do I go from here?

Spray some starting fluid into the intake, and see if it shows signs of life. If it does, then you have a fuel delivery problem.

Now, a 1991... That's fuel injected, yes? Throttle body injection or port injection?
