I just replaced the fuel filter in my 2002 LeSabre last night. It is under the car, about foot in front of the drivers side rear wheel, about 16" in. My fuel line at the screw on connection had some rust, so I think I may need to have that replaced.

I have the same problem with the "lurch and lunge". I cleaned my MAF Sensor, changed my plugs and ignition wires, and now changed the fuel filter. The car runs much better, but I still get the "lurch and lunge" if I step hard on the gas after slowing down (like for a turn). So, if I hit the gas hard when I'm going around 10mph, it still happens.

For your benefit (and mine), what other components could cause the problem and are DIY replacable.

Vehicle lurches and lunges, lacks power, especially when hot or cold.

When engine is at idle does it run smooth until the transmission is engaged and you increase engine load it starts to stuble? If so you may want to check fuel pressure, possible fuel pump or fuel filter at fault.

Where is the fule filter located on a 2001 doge careavan sport

your fuel filter is located on the top side of the fuel tank. you have to lower the fuel tank to get access to filter . be sure to remove filler cap from tank to relieve pressure before u start. also it's easier if fuel tank is almost empty. hope this will help you!!!!

92 C1500 Chevy wont start. Changed plugs, wires, distributor, rotor and fule filter. Pump runs when key is turned on. Poured gas to the distributor and starts up and runs fine. but jerks ar high rpms...

So you threw parts at it. No harm intended. Should have started with the adding gas part first. You know the filter is new and it does run! Are the fuel pump amps correct, pump mech bound,no fuel volume, pressure regulator work correctly? Does the pump run in start mode or time out? Now the harder stuff. What does the spark and timing look like,What is the computer seeing and then what command is it sending?

Car just shuts off, then restarts no problem

Run a fule system cleaner through ur car it goe into the gas tanks lol make sure u do it one a full tank if u are able to drive it that much

then when the tank is empty replace your fule filter its on the passenger side of the car mounted on the fram under neith the car..

im thinkin this will solve the problem for sure

the reason u wanna run he cleaner through it first is cause the old fule filter will catch all the nasty **** that hasnt already cloged your fule filter in the first place then u can take it off and pop on a new one.. remember to change your fule filter every 12,000 miles most ppl have never changed the one that was on the car when they bought it.

Fule filter location

if it is the 1500 you will need a spec. tool to disconect fitting (j46363) it is under the body just fallow the fuel lines, there will be a bracket with a fuel composition sensor with a wiring loom with 3 encased wires by your driveshaft, you will have to remove those nuts and posision the sensor aside to get to the fuel filter, from the picture on mitchelondemand it looks to be next to the suspension bar going through the chassie, if this helped alot throw me some blue ; ) take care any other quesions let me know
