1991 town car has no heat. What can be the problem?

I was told that a mechanic does something between the a/c and the heat in the engine compartment. What does that mean?

He probably changes the heater core or checks to see if the heater core is circulating the coolant through. If the blower is not working he will check the Resistor and plug near the heater blower under the dash. Both are under the dash. have you replaced the thermostat ? If you do, after refilling with coolant, bleed the sysytem using the bleeding screw at the outlet of the thermostat until only coolant comes out.

'91 toyota celica with oil leakage/ rear main seal

that is reasonable. considering you have to pull the engine out of car and remove transmission to do it. although the car isn't worth much more then that so I would just put some oil stop leak in and keep it toped up.

Check for any vacuum leaks under the hood. There should be a plastic cannister either in the engine compartment or up in the passengers side fender Follow any hoses from from the fire wall.

Hi,

The compressor is located in a compartment in the left front wheel hub. To access it you have to remove the air cleaner and the washer fluid reservior.

Thanks.

Acts like its running out of gas, raw gas smell

this suggests you have a fuel leak in the engine compartment. Possibly a leaking fuel manifold (injection rail), or the rubber line from the fuel tank is leaking where it attaches to the manifold. The fuel line to the cold start injector should also be checked. Rubber hoses on older cars become brittle and as they contract from very cold weather will leak. Turn the key to on for 1 minute but do not start the car. Then check under the hood for a raw fuel wet spot where the leak is.
