The Powertrain Control Module (Chip) is usually in the engine compartment. To one of the sides of the motor. Or on some cars under the dashboard near the brake pedal to the side. It is a flat box type componant. You have to replace the entire PCM . The chip cannot be seperated from the box.

Can you tell me how much a shifter cable should cost about for a 2005 Pontiac Sunfire and how many hours it should take to put in?

http://www.amazon.com/ACDelco-22737100-Shift-Cable/dp/compatibility-chart/B001O039US

It is $56.11 with free (but slow) shipping.

As for how long it takes, I'm not sure, but wanted to at least get half of it answered for you.

Where is the inertia switch located on the 2005 pontiac sunfire

Hello kmcwil: My name is Roger and I will be glad to help you. On this particular car there is no inertia switch. The PCM or ECM controls the function of the fuel pump. Located under the hood you will find a fuse box. You will find a relay that is marked fuel pump. These two are all that controls the fuel pump. Also check the ECM,ignition and fuel pump fuses.
Should you need further help please just ask. Please rate the quality of your answer. This way I know the information helped. Thank You for using Fix Ya. Roger
