Question about 2001 Kia Rio

1 Answer

Kia Rio AC/Heater

Techies,

I have a 2001 Kia Rio and when I turn on the AC/Heater control it screeches somtimes. I do notice when I do turn on the AC/Heater it drains horsepower from the engin as well, or at least it feels like that. I kow it is not the blower under the dash. I had looked at this already. It is definetly some thig under the hood. Any ideas on what needs changed? Do I need to drain and recharge my coolant?

Its probably going to be the clutch for the ac. they do that when the bearigs are wearing out and eventually the clutch will lock up and the ac wont work at all

2003 kia rio burns out rad fan fuse when turned on

Try unplugging the air conditioner compressor under the hood. There should be a plug near to its pulley. With the compressor unplugged, try turning the fan switch to AC again & see if it still blows the fuse. If it does, there's a problem somewhere in the wiring between the switch and the compressor. If not, the problem is in the compressor's pulley clutch.

I have a 2001 kia rio, check engine light came on. stopped at Auto Zone an they tested it. Their machine said it was CODE P1166. what is this part we need?

1166 - AF sensor 1 heater circuit malfunction

Your top O2 sensor (the LAF sensor) may be unplugged or the wire may be damaged, or it may be dead.

2001 kia rio standard turns off after being turned on.

Clean the throttle body and the passage way for the idle air control (IAC) motor. If you take the car to a shop to have this done. Tell them that you want a "throttle body service" done to your car. This should help. Good luck.

2001 Kia Rio running too cold

First thing to test would be the thermostat. If this is stuck open the engine would never reach correct temperature.
