They are not noted for fuel mileage. You can change the O2 sensor, but this is not the problem.

My 2000 Ford is running rough after new spark plugs

check and see if one of them popped out this was a common problem with spark plugs. There's a kit you can buy to clean out where it popped out but it would be best to take it to a trained mechanic

My 2000 Ford Expedition XLT's check engine light

I'm probably not going to be able to give you a proper diagnosis without knowing which codes are setting the check engine light. There are about 300 problems that can set the light. Most common thing for your vehicle with not running bad is what they call the DPFE (differential pressure feedback) sensor. It's basically a vacuum/pressure monitor for the EGR system and they get stopped up or corrode as they have exhaust gases running through them and are made from aluminum or plastic. If you post code numbers (go to advance or autozone and they will read them for free) and I can give you a better idea of what the problem is.

Car just shut off in the middle of driving.

need to check for spark first, then fuel. be sure inertia switch is on in the back. It trips in an accident. owner manual tells you where and how to rest. report back
