Does the fan and fan schroud need to come off to replace the radiator

Yes,

Hold the fan clutch steady with a fan clutch wrench and disconnect the fan using a fan hub wrench. Notice the fan remains held in the engine compartment by the fan shroud...

Remove the two bolts securing the fan shroud to the radiator, with a ratchet and socket. Pull the fan shroud and fan blade assembly from the engine compartment.

My 1998 chevy caviler has a grinding noise when i step on the gas peddle & rev it up, what can this be?

this could be anything i assume your hearing it under the hood. with the engen OFF pop open the hood and see if the fan blades are rubbibg aginst the fann schroud. check the end of each fan blade for possable signs of rubbibg check around the schroud for rubbing or anysign of rubbing. i dont know what type of noise your hearing you might want to check the belts make sure they are in place. and the pullys to make sure there is no movement other than turning the way they are supposed to go. if you cant see anything have a friend over and being very carefull with the hood still up have them or you start the car while the other one watches and listens under the hood. [KEEP HANDS BACK] have them rev... a little on it to see whats making the noise. and im sure youll find it. remember it has to be a moveing part making the noise..i hope this helps

How to remove the fan clutch

To remove fan clutch, you need a special clutch fan tool. Sometimes i can remove it with a large adjustable wrench while locking the water pump pulley. Remember to turn counter-clockwise.

Need to replace water pump. how easy it it?

Pretty easy. Just drain antifreeze. Then loosen 4 bolts that holds fan to pulley. Remove plastic fan schroud and fan pulley. Loosen water pump bolts in criss cross pattern and remove water pump. Clean surface install new gasket and water pump install in reverse order. Tighten in staggerd order to keep from breaking and warping. Don't forget to change thermostat good time to replace. Part should be about 50 bucs at your local parts store.

I need to find out the timing specs for my 1992- S10 P/U 4.3L The engine dies when I let my foot off the gas. I have been told it's on a sticker on my fan schroud... the "sticker" is gone. Can you help?

there is a wire on most s10s that is below the heater box under the carpet. it is a single wire and is tan with a black stripe.unplug at the connector.now you can check the timing. it should be 0 tdc

Fan is wabling on a 1997 jeep, the belt is still on for now, we can't start the jeep up because it hit the schroud.

Now its a couple of things that may be wrong...1 is your waterpump may be bad, and the shaft is wobbling back and forth...2. it could be your fan clutch...or 3. it just maybe the fan blade itself..sometimes they wear out, because they are made up of plastic...however you can easliy see that, and move it around..and make sure all the bolts are tight..

So. check the waterpump, by tring to shake the fan up and down and side to side, and see if the shaft move, then its the waterpump...the clutch really wont give you too much play, it just wont spin as fast, with the engine running, Or the blade..basically it will look like its fallen off....

1999 dodge ram, how to remove fan and pulley from water pump

The clutch fan assembly unscrews from the water pump with a special tool that can be rented or purchased from local autoparts stores. If the assembly is left hand threads is should be indicated on the plastic fan schroud (cover).
