Making whistle noise on off on run and stopping.

There are basically two types of whistle noises.

* Whistle when you get more gas (increase RPM, put gas pedal, sometimes just idling but louder when you put more gas)
This usually intake-side leak.
Intake manifold itself, intake manifold gasket (most likely), even airfilter housing, Airflow meter housing (connector), anything where air goes to engine.
usually engine get rough or unstable idle when intake leak occur.
Engine knocking or pinging may feel.

* Whistle when you decrease RPM (engine brake, reduce speed, sometimes just idling but louder when it dropping RPM)
This usually Vacuum-side leak.
There are many vacuum hoses in engine room. even inside of cabin (heater control, etc)
Try to spot where it coming from.
Vacuum also connected to Brake servo, heater control and spark timing.

Put metal or plastic pipe (small PVC pipe will work fine) to one of your ear then isolate source of noise and find where it come from.

My 2009 chevy impala V6 makes a whistle noise for 5 to 10 seconds at cold start. Anyone knows what it is?

I would first check the air cleaner to see if it is ripped and check for leaves or anything that may be in the air cleaner box or air intake hose.

There is loud whistling noise on my honda accord when accelerating.there is no power loss.black smoke or anything like that so i dont think is turbo.anybody got an idea what it could be?any help would be...

Hi,
Had a similar problem on my 06 accord, would recommend you check the air intake system. Loose parts tend to cause a whistle.
If your's is a diesel like mine, there is a plastic cover over the intake next to the radiator which can come loose.
Good Luck!

Whistling noise while driving

If it is whistling while you rev your engine (while parked), then most likely there is a leak or hole in your air intake or vacuum hoses.

Facts:
1. Your car creates a vacuum to constantly receive air from the outside.

2. A whistling noise is created when air travels through a hole.

Check all air pressurized ducts for holes or leaks.
Check air intake system for holes or leaks.

if the battery you installed was charged and was up to at least 12 volts,it should have turn the engine over quickly, since you still had to jump a good battery to get started, you must have a starter dragging, you will need to change it

1993 Lincoln Continental v6 3.8L- whistling noise under the hood

if it's not running bad, it may be a simple crack in a pcv line, or a loose hose(vaccum). should be simple to fix.

I have a 1999 Honda Accord V6 and cant find trans fill point

Just the very top ring of the transmission dipstick is visible with the air filter housing lifted up. Removing the upper air filter housing and the rubber ducting for the intake will allow enough room for a transmission funnel to be used.

I have a 1999 Ranger 4x4, 4.0 V6. I have a whistling noise at low idle or coasting. I have replaced the air intake sensor. This happens most of the time when the AC is running and it is hot.

It could be several things, but if your engine run properly, no codes are being picked up, than I would lean to the air intake hose. Check all around the hose and air box to make sure there are no cracks that could be sucking in air. But if its not an air style whistling, and more of a mechanical whinning, than check the idler pulley, the tensioner pulley, and even the altenator or A/C compressor clutch.
