Battery warning light comes on when idling with heater running...
When I'm driving my van with the heater on all is good, stopped and idling with heat on is a different story after 2 minutes, and I don't dare turn the defrost or the cabin circulation controls on or the barrery light comes on almost instantly and is hard to get rid of. I have replaced the battery and found the battery was not the problem. I have had opinions from others, saying it might be the voltage regulator, or possibly the CPU... Well that's two totally different components as well as a bit of an expense if not needed in the first place to fix the problem. So I would greatly appreciate some feed back to help me nail this problem the first time and for good.

Take your battery in for testing after charging it. Then, to avoid pulling the Alternator for nothing, drive to a local Autozone, Advance, or Oeilys and ask them to check your charging system on the Van.
Consider taking an extra battery if you have one to fit, so you can get back home after the test. Run the van with the charger connected until you get good heat, then reduce the blower fan speed to minimum. Then disconnect charger.
If you are still stuck on the road, jumpstart the van until it is warm, using the jump car to charge the battery so you can go home and try again. Just leave the battery jumpers connected to the struggling van battery a few minutes so the old battery has a chance to charge.
something is heating up it could be the ignition relay or a bad ignition switch. relay can over heat and stop working this would take some time to cool down again, ignition can do the same some times you can feel the heat on the key when removed.
Since warm air eventually comes out when the vehicle is in motion, you may have an air mix door that is stuck in fresh or is somehow blocking warm air from the heater core.
To see if the air mix control motor is bad, you need to retrieve your Diagnostic trouble codes (DTC's) from the heater control panel. To run the diagnostic function, do the following: 1. Turn the ignition switch ON (II). 2. Turn the fan switch OFF. 3. Press the recirc control button to select Recirc (recirc light on.) 4. Press and hold the recirc button to select Fresh (recirc light off) and continue to hold the button down until the recirc light comes on for two seconds and then goes off. 5. If the system is okay, the recirc light stays off. 6. If there is a problem, the recirc light blinks the DTC to indicate the trouble. One blink=a problem in the air mix control motor circuit. Two blinks=problem in the mode control motor circuit Three blinks=problem in evaporator temp sensor circuit. 7. Turn the ignition switch off to cancel the self diagnosis function. Run the diagnostic again after repairs are complete.
Note: the air mix control motor has a rod which connects to a plastic link. The link controls the mix doors and also connects to the heater control water valve via a cable. The air mix motor may check okay, but if the link is broken then you will still have problems. the motor is on the bottom of the heater unit in the front passenger's foot well.
You have an air pocket trapped in the cooling system. This is pretty common on this vehicle due to the fact the heater core sits higher in the vehicle than the top of the radiator.
To correct this jack the front of the vehicle up or park it on an incline. Remove radiator cap then run it until hot,run rpm up to about 1500 and watch bubbles in radiator then top it back up with coolant until u see a steady flow thru radiator.
2000 chevy venture run good but my lights flickers and have to jump. After I jump the van and put my meeter on the battery its reading 14.volts at idle. I can drive around to store cut the van off come out it starts fine leave it overnite and it don't started.
