We put a new fuel pump on my 1996 izusu hombre. Now when you crank it up after running a ways it spits and sputters then dies. Could this problem be because it needs a new ignition switch

no engine stated (fail time. that)
why the pump , tell reason first not mid story.... works best......!!
engine starts and stalls and misfires badly.
this can be caused by 50 thing's , NO KIDDING!
but in a real shop? we use Physics to find it. 5 rules.
5 tools. to measure the physics.... far more easier than guessing ever will be....
Ill give wild useless guessing now, as most seem to want here.
no tools, no gauges, no $10 elm scan tool.. (USA answers all)

1: lost 12vdc power to the EFI and spark systems.
2: bad engine, low compression , or never changed the cam belt.
3: bad spark, not doing a full tunup in a decade. top cause world wide.
4: EFI system OVER or under fueling for any of 20+ reasons... scan it yet?
5: other causes, making engine useless. EGR stuck open, or CAT melted closed.

each path as a simple tests.
wanna gue$$ or TEST?
your call......

I have a 1996 Isuzu Hombre. Sometimes it won't start and just turn over. It also dies sometimes while driving or just idleing at stop sign. When this happens there is a clicking and buzzing sound

Sounds to me like a bad battery, however the alternator could be bad as well if it's not charging the battery enough to allow for amperage to crank. Auto Parts Forum

1996 Isuzu Hombre overheated. Let cool, drove home. Replaced thermostat. Started it up and radiator burst out the side. Changed the radiator and now it will not start. It clicks but doesn't turn...

Well I am willing to bet that when you changed the thermostat you did not get all of the air out of your cooling system and that caused your vehicle to over heat and your radiator to explode. The bad thing here is now your car won't start. Since you over heated your car to that point, there is a good chance your engine got to hot and is now locked up. The clicking you here is your starter trying to engage, but it is unable to because your engine simply won't crank. I'm sorry to be the one to tell you this. If you have any more questions please feel free to ask.

probably the throttle position sensor, but also could have jumped time.i would take the T.P.S. out and check the resistance,i am not sure what the correct resistance is for that model but you can find out at the parts store.

Just had to change the battery, now no idle

engine ECU had to relearn values usually have to do this "relearn procedure" when battery disconnected or power removed from engine ECU. a couple of KM drive would cure it and should turn on accessories eg... Air Cond. ,rear demister, head lights while in gear and park or neutral
