Question about 1989 Chevrolet K1500
My 1989 chevy 1500 4x4 runs decent. 183k miles
Here are a couple of its problems that I need answered:
1) Rough idle and dies at the stop light if I don't give it a little gas
2) It just started hiccuping (for a lack of a better term) while driving on the highway. When I am in 3rd gear at about 40 to 50 miles, it hiccups like it has a loss of fuel for a split second, but when I give it more gas or switch to 2nd (higher rpms) then the problem goes away.
I have sprayed carb cleaner in the carb to see if that would help. It didn't.
I have replaced the plugs, and cap - I didn't do the rotor.
Engine is high miles and it is original. Any suggestions?
I would suggest replacing the catalytic converter. it might be plugged up and that could solve both your problems. if it demonstrates more going up hill the fuel pump might be going out
