Question about 1987 Toyota Cressida

1 Answer

Knocking in the motor.

My Cressida makes a knocking noise but only on low rpms. When i rev the engine even the slightest bit it goes away. I'm only 16 so I don't know that much about cars so i was wondering if anyone has any idea what might be wrong. Thank You

Sounds like the valves need adjusting. If that doesn't cure the problem, You may have lifters that are worn or loosing their prime.

My 96 chrysler lhs has a knocking/rattleing sound coming from the bottom engine and as you push down on the gas the faster you drive the louder it rattles

if the noise is coming from the bottom end of the motor then you have either bad connecting rod bearings or bad crank bearings.if when you snap the throttle you hear a double knock then its connecting rod bearing if not then its crank bearing.a collapsed piston can sound low in the engine and its usually a dull knock noise.if you have the engine running and the noise is there and you pull off one plug wire at a time(and reconnect it after checking) and the noise goes away or mostly goes away with the wire unhooked then the cylinder that the noise changed is the cylinder that has a bad piston.

I have a 1995 Subaru Legacy, and it started making "knocking sounds". Ck the oil, it was OK

If the sound does not go away then the engine has internal problems. Some times if someone over revs the engine it will cause knocks. If the oil is not changed regularly and the engine gets hot due to low water, racing engine then engines dont last long.
If its a deep solid knock its a crank shaft bearing.
If its a lighter knock then some times if you remove the right plug wire and the knock goes away (of course the engine will run rough due to lost cylinder) its that pistons wrist pin bearing.
At any rate your engine will need rebuilt or replaced.Or get a different car.

The engine knocks at higher rpm, only at high rpms

First no matter what check the oil level and then if it's a high rev tapping you need to allow the oil to flow through the engine block to try to coat and settle your valves.

But if it's really " knocking " sounds like your lifters and rocker arms are allowing your piston rods to clatter and that needs to be looked into fast.

2000 Daewoo Leganza Engine trouble

Sounds like an engine rebuild is required. The head may be warped and the knocking sound may be a cam.
