if you are not all that mechanical take it to a muffler shop they are usually cheap to cut out and swap please make sure that your current exhasut is the still stock or you will need to know the diameter of the pipe they used

It appears that your car has a 2.25 inlet and a 2.5 outlet I put A catcocovertor on my car years ago and I passed the NJ strict emissions never had a problem and saved $200 from the dealer price of $300 +

Wish ya best of luck exhaust is always a pain but worth it at the gas pump, leaky exhaust kills your mpg

Many things do this. First you have a 84, Do a compression test. low, then give up. No matter what you sink into it, it won't get better unless you rebuild the engine. Next replace the catalytic converter. After that tune it up, from the fuel filter to the top of the engine.

84 s10 pipes

Yes, you have to order the same size. You also need a coupler that joins the pipe to the Cat.

Order the catalytic converter for that make and model and you will get the right size, assuming that the installation was done at the factory and has not been modified.

If you stick with items sold by major manufacturers (edelbrock etc) and buy a matched set, you should be OK. Remember though that exhaust work sometimes requires that the vehicle be lifted higher than normal jacks etc will go.

I suggest using a factory cat with a y-pipe behind the cat to your dual exhaust. LMC Truck makes a great bolt on duel exhaust with resonators. Easy to install and great sound.

you can do it without weldind. If the old one is welded on then you will have to get another pipe to extend the pipe or get a cat long enoungh to fit the space than muffler clapit in place.

I don't believe you need to weld anything, but its a good idea to have a torch maybe, to get off the old one. or a big hammer.
