Question about 1995 Nissan Maxima

Radiator leak Today I noticed two small leaks on the top of my radiator where the plastic is, I took the car to my mechanic who said that my radiator can explode with those leaks because of pressure, is he correct? I'm afraid to drive my car now and will have to take the bus till I can afford the new radiator.

Thank you for calming my nerves. I've purchased a couple gallons of coolant and keep one gallon of water in my car just in case and will keep the reservoir full when low.

If I use Prestone Super Radiator Sealer will this help out as a temporary fix?

It will not cause the radiator to explode but it can cause the car to overheat. just keep checking the antifreeze level before you take off and add some if below the cold mark. fill to the cold mark and you should be fine till you can afford a new radiator if you have a salvage yard around you check there for a good used one it will be alot cheaper

It looks like the top of the radiator is leaking quite badly.

no--- this is the plastic tank cracking and will allow the engine to overheat because of the lack of pressure in the system
Best advice is a new radiator as the plastic cracks from age mostly and the radiator is unreliable

I have a 2001 VW Beetle. I started the car and the engine light was blinking and coolant container was empty, added coolant and the next evening the light came on again. I noticed a leak on the front...

look for a leak from the drain hole under the pump housing, if no leak not a water pump
take the car to a radiator specialist shop and have a coolant pressure test done to determine where the leak is
if it has plastic tanks for the radiator , they split with time and leak under pressure and a pressure test will reveal exactly where the leak is unlike a guess

Check the transmission fluid level. Sounds like you either have a leak n or failed to properly top off the fluid level after the initial loss of fluid.

I've changed the head gasket (top overhaul),the thermostat, the radiator cap and serviced the radiator where the water is flushed out and replaced and checked for no leaks but still my trooper over

You have a water leak from the sound of it or water is draining from over heating. Things to check for, leaks at the hose connections, leaks at heater connections on engine, leaks at water pump and any leaks at head gasket. Assuming there are no leaks check or replace or adjust your water pump belt. Take the thermostat out and run the engine without out it. If the problem is solved replace the thermostat recommended for you car. You can also have it checked as well.

1999 accord is leaking small amount of radiator

If a coolant temp sensor is not working, the fans will not activate, and fluid will go overboard the reservoir, and the temp gauge should have an abnormal reading. Happened to my 1998 accord that the top plastic tank above the radiator had a small leak right where it meets the aluminum honeycomb. It leaked only when hot, and evaporated right away, leaving no traces. Start the car and let it idle for 5 min, and then open the hood and check if the fans are coming on, and if you can see bubbling coming from the radiator top assembly.

Leak undeneath upper radiator hose

Hi:
The radiator on your Focus is mostly plastic on the top and bottom, and the middle section is aluminum/ alloy. If you examine the radiator, and are sure it isn't leaking from the hose connection, then the radiator will need repaired. sometimes, small leaks in the middle , metal section are sealed just by using some radiator stop leak in your engine's coolant. A radiator shop can replace the top or bottom plastic piece on your radiator too, and often it is a good idea to check the price of an entire radiator at your local auto parts store, as sometimes you can buy a radiator for less than the cost to repair your old one.

Radiator leak

This radiator is plastic and aluminum it there is small leak on the plastic part it can be stopped with an EPOXY. However you must locate the source of this leak first so that you can solve it. If it leaking from the fins/vains on the radiator I would recommend that you replace radiator very simple to do. Good luck and thanks for using FIX YA
