Question about 2004 Chevrolet Cavalier

My 2003 cavalier turns over but won't start, what is causing this

My car has been running well with no ills signs to indicate there is a problem. I drove it into work this morning and at lunch I tried to start the car but it would not start. The car turned over but wouldn't kick over to start. I tried jumping the car just to verify it wasn't battery related but this did not help. Does anyone have any ideas?

I have the same problem, as lawdog1214 the only difference is my car is a 2004 chevy cavalier, and drove my car to work had no problems and when I got off of work it started up just fine. I was on my way home and the car started to sputter like it was going to shut down..I pulled over and just as I did my car turned off. I tried to restart it but it would not start up, it would turn but wouldn't actually start... any suggestions??? Never had any problems out of this car before ??

I have a 2003 Cavalier...manual trans... everything was fine up until today: When I was driving and switching from 1st to 2nd, it would bog down like it didn't want to drive and I thought that was kind of sketchy. Then I noticed as I was slowing down or coming to a stop, the car was sputtering like it was going to stall. So I pulled into a parking lot so I could test it out, and of course, things were running ok. I go to leave the parking lot, come to a stop and the car stalls. I tried turned everything off and tried to restart... it turns over and starts but dies after 1-2 seconds of being on.

I don't know what the hell is wrong.

I would check if you have fuel getting to the motor.
When you turn key to the on position without engine turning over you should hear your fuel pump supplying gas to motor.

You may not hear the fuel pump whining, I am having the same problem and have fuel going to the motor along with spark but still all it does is turn over and every once in a while acts like it wants to start but wont.

Replaced ignition switch in 1999 chevy cavaliar rs, anti-theft light comes on and stays on and won't allow car to start and remain on or run

You have to do a relearn procedure on the anti-theft system:

Attempt to start the vehicle. Leave the ignition on until the THEFT SYSTEM indicator turns off (about 10 minutes). Turn the ignition switch off. Leave the ignition switch off with key in for about 10 minutes. Attempt to start vehicle.

2003 Chevy Cavailier starts after turning the key back and forth.

Get a new key cut at the dealer. If that doesn't take care of it then the key cylinder needs to be replaced.
