I had a nail in front passenger tire. Took it off and got it plugged. I noticed a lot of grease around area.

Could be universal joints if rear wheel drive , you can physically see by checking the drive shaft at each end. If its that bad it will fall. Also could be tires out of balance

Sounds like a bad spark plug, spark plug wire. Probably the spark plug wire. They usually act that way when load is applied. It may misfire under light load and not at idle. Try plugs and wires.

4x4

old post
4wd is only for, offroad, and ice on pavement only
its called part time 4wd, for that reason
its not AWD,
ever on any pre 2004 suzuki or tracker.
and causes damage

4wd means front axle is locked, if not, that means you are not in 4wd . (makes since right?)
with auto or manual front locking hubs.

the cars tires and wheels are just like music instrument
they have resonant frequencies.
so SPEED changes that.
no man on earth blinded by internet can help you.
we can guess. but why do that, you then spend a fortune on useless parts.
ever heard of a mechanic, and ASE mech can fix this easy.
BTW noise and vibrations is complex. on all machines.
the factory FSM has a chapter on that , why not read that.>?

in my small town 250k we have a suspension shop
they can find any noise, and any vibration.
let them! and btw 2 some tests are very dangerous.
btw3, they do have on car tire balance, this finds other problems.

they might charge $100 to find the reason.
is that too much, or is buying $1000 in parts not needed ,better.
for sure i can find it , but for sure, not here.

If you are engaging your 4 WD at over 55, that in itself may be a problem. Driving over 50 in 4wd may not be a good idea and almost impossible if you are in 4wd Low. You will be straining the rpm limits in 4 wd Low - and everything else in your drive train. It will also be a strain in 4wd High to a lesser extent. (I am assuming you are talking MPH)

Harmonic vibration between 40-45 mph with or with out overdrive like going over a wash board and its only momentary and is not consistent

Sounds like your 4x4 lockouts are engaging (only if 4x4) and if 2wd then could be wheel bearings, driveshaft center support bearing. Also could be tire(s) when the metal belt gets exposed it also makes a harsh vibrating sound. Start eliminating some of these and see if you can pinpoint if its coming from the front or rear or center of the truck

4 wheel drive will not engage in low, light just flashes on switch, will engage in Hi but there is a serious vibration over 40 mph

The vehicle must be in neutral to shift into and out of 4LOW, 4HIGH is not for typical road use, anytime you have "fair" road conditions, the wheels will vibrate in 4wd. Use the AUTO 4wd when on a road that has a solid surface, mostly free of ice, it will only kick in when a wheel slips.
