Had the same problem.. check the wiring to the knock sensors and the knock sensors its self. i had a wire that didnt clip on well to the knock sensor by the firewall, so it gave me that code.

What is code 43?

Code 43 is "fuel supply system."

This code will trip when the ECU and the readings from the o2 sensor don't get along(in layman's term or easy enough for Si Speed to understand biggrin.gif) read the above two threads).

How to diagnose and fix?

First things first, when was the last time you changed your O2 sensor? Start by replacing that first because most likely, that's the main culprit. Now, you may wonder why doesn't the CEL indicate code 41(heated o2 sensor)? Usually when the o2 sensor is completely dead, that code will trip. Also, even though the o2 sensor is working, the voltage or ground isn't 100% Because of that, it will correlate with code 43.

If replacing the o2 sensor did not help code 43 to disappear, next thing is to replace your fuel filter. A clogged fuel filter will also trip code 43.

Next up, did you install an aftermarket Fuel Pressure Regulator? I have a few friends with 3rd gen Preludes and both of them installed aftermarket FPR's and they too, trip code 43. Him and a lot of people who install aftermarket FPR's mess with the PSI and that will cause code 43 to appear(on a stock ECU mind you). Bring it back to stock PSI to help fight code 43.

Those are the 3 main culprits that will cause code 43 from my experiences. Injectors, spark plugs & wires, most likely anything "fuel' related that isn't working properly will also cause code 43.

My 88 cavalier z24 starts to run rough as it warms up it is throwing ecm code 43. what is esc and how do you fix low voltage to it

Electronic Spark Control runs a self check and it failed the check. You need to replace the HEI module inside the distributor, check all the wires and connectors for rust and clean as needed.

As much money as you have spent, you could have fixed it and had a lot of beer money left. First thing to check is the KNOCK SENSOR. should be located near the starter.

IM GETTING A CODE 43 INTERMITATLY ON MY 93 2 DOOR YUKON , SPARK CONTROL CUIRCUIT , ANY SUGESTIONS ?

If I'm not mistaken, this code is Electronic Spark Control (ESC) Circuit which can mean anything in the system. There is a knock sensor near the starter that can be the problem. I have also seen a new distributor fix this code. The distributor can lose it's ground in the housing OR the shaft magnet gets too weak

1989 gmc c2500 service code ''43''

When you replaced the ESC did you disconnect the battery? If not then it is most likely that the vehicles ECM is still running in loop mode because it doesn't realize it has been changed. Clearing the codes, disconnecting the battery should do the trick.
