Question about 2000 Renault 181
Child locks were on for a few years - everything worked fine ( i.e. doors opened from outside ok ) - removed the child locks but now both doors are locked closed - cant be opened from inside or out !!! - I have stripped off one of the door panels and can get to the locking mechanism but still cant release the lock in order to open the door. All the linkages are connected ok and I have removed the central locking motor ( which doesn't have deadlocking ) so the only thing that can still be stopping it is the "child lock" lever but I can't see what I can release from within the door to open it. ( I have read about someone else with the same problem - but not found a solution ) hope you can help. Cheers, Paul. back drivers side door will not unlock or open atal.managed to get panel off, but cant get any futher.had a screw driver and hammer to it but nothings working,it will not unlock.also key fob isnt working either, got no central locking atal, only fron the button by the gear stick.any more suggestions??

It has nothing to do with the "child lock" It is a know problem in this car, they tend to get caught in lock. Only thing to do, is to take of the panel then the outside handle, and through that hole destroy the plastic covering the lock, a large screwdriver and hammer will do! Then you can release the lock, while you pull the inside release handle. Buy new!

SOURCE: renault key fob doesnt work
I have a clio II, 2001, i have the same problem and i fixed it.
Don't know if will work for you but here it goes:
1 - no key in ingnition
2 - press the unlock button in console off the car for about 10 seconds(dont let go)
3 - it should work the central doors one time and then 2 times( hear)
4 - press the remote a few times until it starts working
It worked for me hope the same for you.
Please tell me if it worked and pass the message.

remove it from the car, drilla largish hole in the plastic behind the catch, and use a screw driver to unclip it. it takes a bit of effort.
once you get it off trim down the lug for the next time so it comes out easier.

The keyfob should not need reseting! normally you put the new batteries in and it should just work.
If the fob is not working then it may be broken.
