1992 ford f150 Truck shut down at 60mph and now fuel pumps wont

Shut off. smoke came from under dash and you could smell plastic burning.. We know its an electrical issue but dont know where to start looking. She starts but wont stay running and when she does run she runs rough and blows raw fuel. she has never done this and my husband has traces all the wiring but cant find anything burned or charred. We dont have the money to take her in. PLEASE if anyone can help us out it would be GREATLY appreciated.
Thanks in advance!!!

Where does the fuel come from that leaks out when running? If you have dual fuel tanks and one tank is overflowing you will need to check the fuel tank switch in the dash. Ford had a problem with these that caused the fuel pump from one tank to pump fuel to the other tank and cause it to overflow. If this is the case the tank switch is probably defective.
They can get very hot and melt the wires into the back of the switch. Check the switch first.

What would cause no power to the fuel pump?

There is a fuel pump cutoff (called an inertia switch) behind the right side (passenger) cowl kick panel. If you reach above the top of the panel (under the dash all the way to the right) there is a box in there with a round red push button that pushes down. It should click (sometimes they're a bit "mushy"). If it doesn't reset, replace it. The function of that switch on Fords is to shut off the fuel in a wreck. If you need more help on the location, I can take a picture of the one in my truck and post it here.

I have a 2000 f150, while driving at 60mph it stalled. Fuel filter has been changed, pump is working. My truck wont stay running. Please help

Try wiggling the relays in the power distribution box under the hood, you may have a poor connection to the fuel pump relay. Also you should check fuel pressure. Also check the ignition, when your truck dies do you lose spark?

check the ignition starter switch 1st, it is the main switch that the ignition key truns on to power up the electrical system, it is on the top of the steering column tube near the bottom, it is driven by a rod from the ign key cylinder

The truck will turn over but never start

mine did this once. inside the truck by passenger door is a small plastic cover. it pops right off. there is a button that resets your fuel pump. might be why your truck wont turn over. my truck is designed to have fuel pump shut off if in a accident or some kind of sudden jolt, in my case from a wild night of offroading. if this is your case, simply pushing the button will reset it. plastic cover is down by passengers right leg.
