U are going to have to replace the starter solenoid or the starter solenoid contacts, they get burned and eroded from the years of use and finally don't make a connection, most people just put a new starter in, but the contacts are easy to replace, here is a link to those parts.

Crankshaft sensor - 97 Suzuki Swift. Need location.

can you afford a 10 buck walfart meter? DMM volt meter
the battery terms clean
fuses checked
starter dead, no jumper cables for a old car, its like first buy tool if ever there ways. huh>
so you cant jumper cable start car.
so we measure battery voltage cranking
11v good, hear clank, bad starter,
12.6v no clank is dead starter or dead keyline
hot wire key line, it cranks means key line DEAD.
try to crank in neutral? yet< A/t trans, this uses new switch contacts, wow it starts.?
lower than 10 v cranking is weak battery, no jumper cables, oops;.
or shorted starter, or seized engine, can you turn engine by hand.

my guess, is all this is too hard.
it takes tools to fix cars, some or are dirt cheap today.
unlike say in 1970 .... you in the good times.

I have a 1996 Geo Metro LSI car won't start, no clicking noise but lights come on

  • sure it won't crank the engine , starter motor just clicks !
  • try using jumper cables, and crank, off a running car.?
  • Fuses all good.? test them?
  • battery terminals clean, never green?
  • A/T transmission? did you wiggle shifter, as you crank it.?
  • a/T trans, did you try starting in neutral?
  • M/T trans did you press clutch pedal harder as you cranked it over? (repeat say 3 times, see if this makes it crank)
  • try a good battery from a good car? in your car.
  • charge your battery. using a battery charger..
  • Does hot wiring the starter solenoid , make it crank over?

I try to turn on my jeep but there is a light with a key on the cluster and it wont turn the engine

2001 GC
and the 1mill post with a user lost their operators guide.
buy one and not get stranded. (please)
learn to read and identify all dash cluster warning lamps or get stranded.
no crank?
cranks robustly but will not start.?
which is it?
is the fuel tank full?
are the head lights working, with full brightness?
did you check all fuses in both fuse boxes.?>
did you wiggle the gear shifter (A/T)?
did you try cranking in Neutral... bam it now cranks? ask.

if it cranks robustly
then does it have spark. ??
if it tries to start and kills in 2sec. that is ASD doing that.
ASD cuts fueling , if there are up to 7 major errors .
the laws of ASD are here, clearly.
if the relay closes and drops out, cranking, BINGO !

My car has power but will not turn over, could this be the ignition switch

If it just clicks when trying to start then its the batt even though it turns everything on may be to weak to start your car, if it cranks but won't turn over could be a number of things
. Check all fuses that the car has, check to see of your fuel pump is kicking on have a friend listen by the gas tank for a buzzing or whining noise as you turn the car to on. My car crank but no start was the pcm fuse.. Could be the fuel pump fuse like I said check everything you can. If the car is just clicking try hooking up for a jump start but make sure you take all safety steps first.. Good luck..

Refuse to start, who much will it cost me to buy another one?

another what?
no car starts unless cranked fast. or pushstarted (stick) or jumper cable cranked.)
if it dont crank
1: check all fuses.
2: try jumper cable start, does it crank now (stater makes noise and engine crank shaft spins(eyes see that)

My 99 Gmc jimmy will not start. the fuel pump is good the fuel filter is not clogged, i replaced the neutral safety switch, plugged in my code reader no codes, i believe it is the starter or the ignition...

Does it crank or not? If no crank then look at the starter or ignition switch. If crank but no start then look at the ignition system. Check for spark at the plugs and also check the fuel pressure. If there is spark try spraying a little starting fluid into the intake. See if it starts and stays running. If it stays running reply back and I will explain why.

2005 start after running for a while.does not crank or starter and battery did not solve problem.

check main fuses under the hood if not that take back to dealer and research lemon laws! BUY IMPORTS!! More reliable and don't spend $20,000 on $5,000 dollar cars!

2000 olds drove to work fine this morning this afternoon it would not CRANK, just a load starter/solenoid click. changed starter this afternoon, still same load click, checked battery volts 12.6 , cleaned...

This might noy be of much help, buy I would try a remote starter switch hooked up to the starter, with the ignition switch in the run position..then push the remote start switch.
This would give you an idea if the ignition switch is a part of the problem

Won't even "click" nor " crank" when trying to start .

sounds like the starter is bad. it can be tested by a mehcanic or( most autoparts stores,) but you'll need to take it out yourself for them to do it.
