black smoke and the fuel economy is down bad. It is like it is dumping fuel into the throttle body. You have to keep your foot on the gas pedal to keep the rpm above 1000. Misses very bad until you get above the 1000rpm. Runs fine at 55mph. Replced plugs and the old ones were very black sout like from unburn gas. Engines dies below 800 rpm

IDLE IS SURGING,START IT AND IT GOES TO2000 RPM COMES DOWN TO 1000 RPM,GOES BACK UP TO 2000RPM THAN COMES DOWN TO AROUND TO1000 THAN BACK DOWN TO 600 RPM, I HAVE CHANGED THE idle sensor motor at a cost of...

An exhaust leak ahead of the O2 sensor can cause this. Air leaking in gives it an inaccurate reading. Check ahead of the sensors for telltale black sooty streaks at your exhaust joints and tighten any you find loose. You can temporarily cover any small holes with some muffler tape as well. Hope this helps.

94 camry. 2.2 fed emissions. Rough idle. runs great any rpm off idle. have checked timing. vacuum leaks, plugs, spark, removed throttle body and iac and cleaned. removed egr. plugged intake. all with no...

Before we both knock ourselves out with fuel injector testing. Hook up a Digital voltmeter (DVM) to upstream O2 sensor and lets see how she is burning. Remember positive lead of DVM to signal wire and negative lead to ground. Anything above 550 mV is rich anything below 350mV is lean. Be mindful that an exhaust leak the size of a pin hole in this region can cause a rough idle. A healthy reading should bounce between 550mV and 350 mV.
Next to test is O2 is working block off air in take making mixture rich and see what O2 says about it . Then pull off a vacuum hose (a lean condition) and see if DVM drops to 200to 300mV's.
Keep me posted.

2002 Buick Rendzvous Won,t idle under 1000 rpm

This could be the TPS, or Throttle Position Sensor. Generally when there is an idle problem, this is the first thing to look at. Hope this helps

Check your idle air valve, maybe your air filter needs to be changed. EGR valve may need to be checked at as well.
