Don't wait until the last moment to put your brakes on. When you know you're going to have to stop, get off the gas and LIGHTLY, apply the brakes to start the slow down process. Putting a lot of pressure on the brakes to stop a vehicle causes them to wear out. I normally get about 80,000 from a set of brakes. I've been driving this way since 1970.

I switched to a full synthetic oil, and never looked back. You can get 10000 miles out of full synthetic easily. Some people say you never have to change it, but i go 10000 and have for 90,000 miles and still runs smooth as the day i bought it. Castrol Syntec is a very good synthetic oil.

I have a 2003 4runner with 102400 miles. It has started to have a squeak somewhere. Sounds like it is on the drivers side. I changed the front brakes and rotors about 10000 miles ago. How does a person...

The rear brakes last a long time since 80% of braking is on the front wheels. This helps keep the car in a straight line in hard braking where the front wheel lock up. The rear wheels keep rolling to keep the car in a straight line much like a fin on a rocket keep its path straight through the air. If you have never changed the rear brakes then it is time to check it. The squeak is caused by a device mounted is such a way so that it touches the brake disk when the pad wears to a certain point. Letting you know it is time for a new pad.

With just over 50,000 miles on my 2008 Jeep Wrangler (mostly all highway) Both of my rear pads and rotors need to be replaced.. Does anyone know if this is normal? My front pads and rotors are...

The front brakes are good at 30000 mile intervals ,because they do most of the stopping power. 50 to 60000 miles is about normal on the rear brakes. The most common ailment with rear brakes is the emergency brake not releasing. The cables for the emergency brake run under the jeep ,along the frame and rust keeps them from releasing

I have had the same problem ever since I bought my 4runner new in 99. I've tried all kinds of tires, constant balancing, rotations, alignments, brakes, you name it, I even have a new front end now, but still have wobble in the front end. It's acts like having loose tie-rod. NoOne can figure it out. LEMON?

I have a 2001 kia rio, we have replaced front wheel bearing a combined total of 12 times and it only has 81000 miles on it. one are the other goes out about every 10000 miles.can we replace the older axle...

well not sure what you mean by one piece assm. becuase all front wheel drive cars require one shaft and two c/v joints on either end.

but i think i have a hunch of the problem and them most common cause for failure after a replacement is over tighting of the axle nut. what happens is it crush's the bearing and cut's it's life.

At what mileage should the rear brakes be replaced? Is it common for the rear brakes to be replaced at less than 22,000 miles on a 2007 Sonata gls?

Most of the stopping power goes to the front of the car. You usually go thru two sets or sometimes three sets of front pads before you need to change the rear brakes. It sounds odd the rear brakes need to be replaced at 22,000. havee the front brakes been replaced before?

from my experience its sounds like ur front rotors may need resurfaceing...if ur doing that...may as well replace the brakes on the front as well...sometimes glazed front brake pads may make a sound but never heard of it as a grind, usually its a squeal...have ur dealer check ur rotors for hot spots in which u would need them replaced if they are overheated..also check the front pads for cracked brake pad material
