Question about 1997 Jeep Wrangler

Left rear turn signal and brake light dont work

The left rear turn signal and brake light on my 1997 Jeep Wrangler don't work. I have replaced the bulb, flasher, and signal switch. The bulb lights up when the parking lights are turned on but only the right rear light come on when the brakes are applied or the turn signal is engaged. Also the light over the spare tire and the rear window defrost have stopped working. I tested the fuse, wires and light socket and all appear to be working properly. I replaced the fuse to be sure and cleaned the light bit of dirt from the socket. However, since the parking lights and running lights work, I am stumped as to why the turn signal and brake light doesn't work.

You have a broken wire to the turn/brake light portion of the light as they use the same wire. Or where the plug goes into the light assy could be bad. Torsion mount lights are horrible and you should think about replacing with a universal light that you can wire direct.

No voltage. Replace the turn signal switch. All the exterior lights run threw it. Except the rear high brake light.

My left turn signal makes all 3 lights on the back of my 99 wrangler. then when you hit the brake while the left turn signal is on, all 3 rear lights just light up solid.

You might have a mixed up wiring or the wrong bulbs. Or the bulbs can be installed wrong remove them and turn 180 degrees)

Brake lights on my wrangler won't work

Check the fuses under the dash. If they are o.k. Check the bulbs. If they are o.k. then it may be the combination switch. (turn signal switch)
