Question about 1996 Nissan Sentra
I've notice when I'm driving my trunk seems to open by itself this doesn't happen all the time I have a 96 nissan sentra gxe and I was wondering if I have to replace the lock on the trunk it seems where the trunk hooks the metal is a little wasted and the trunk doesn't make the loud sound when you pop it open. It opens with key and also with the lever inside the car with no problem Please what can I do the car is in good condition.

SOURCE: trunk leaking
I'm not sure how you know the weatherstrip isn't leaking, here's what i would do.With a trusted helper, get in the trunk and latch it.Have the helper spray the entire trunk area with a garden hose while you watch for any water leaks. That's the best way to check the weatherstrip for leaks, and it is likely that's where the leak is coming from.

when you pulled the trunk down on the firnature it could have set the latch without it being shut look inside where the latch is put your key in the trunk lock and turn it, using you finger or somethin smaller you should be able to pull the latch back out and the trunk should close

You will need a new catalytic convertor assembly. Yours is below treshold efficiency in other words its "no good".If you have it replaced, ask the garage/dealer to give you the old one back. Its worth some cash if its full. It doesn't matter thet it failed. They are going after the mesh inside of it and that is worth some $$$$. May not be much , but better than nothing.

Sounds like the lock tumblers are not operating. Maybe from wear, dirt & grime or possible someone tried to break in to your trunk. The easiest way is go to a locksmith and have them pick the lock and repair the tumbler. They can do this so that your ignition key still operates the new lock.
