Any transmission work is going to be expensive. You should find you a transmission at a salvage yard (one with low miles). Prices vary depending on demand but I would think you could get one for that car for 150-300. Then put an add in one of those "list" sites. State you are looking for someone to guide/assist you in replacing a transmission that can bring tools (if you don't have any) and has experience in this type of repair. I would never trust a cheap shade-tree mechanic to do things for me but this way you can watch what he "helps you do" and you can question what doesn't seem right. Get a lot of info off the net first. This should be a 6-8 hour job. Tell him you can pay 200 (when the job is done) and then shoot him an extra forty if he does a great job. This is something I don't like to advise but I know your situation (been there myself). There are some risk in not having an actual shop do it for you but there are a lot worse things you can do when you can't afford much.

If the security system is faulty on a 1997 pontiac grand prix gtp will the motor run rich

No.
The security system would prevent the car from cranking and the injectors from opening if the wrong key is used.

Loud ticking noise on startup

I would have you oil pressure checked. The oil pump or bearings could be going out. The lifter noise on this car usually will go away faster then 5 minutes. I think the noise is lasting a little to long.

Do you have a check engine light on? Try driving it with the MAF unplugged.

My GTP runs 15 mins and looses fuel pressure.. Fuel pump is new

Heres what you need to do to start with. If you are mechanically inclined, when it stalls, check for spark on the #1 cylinder. If you have no spark there, it is likely the CPS or Crankshaft Position Sensor has gone bad, a common issue, and will need to be replaced.

If you need any further help, there is an online Grand Prix community you can check out at http://www.grandprixforums.net. Sign up there and post up your issue and you will get some more input.
