White wire makes the light come on with dome lights, orange wire should be constant power, black is ground and blue w/white should go directly to the brake light switch, both white should be the same connection if problems let me know

Where do the 4 wires that plug into the brake light switch on a 1989 Chevy Cheyenne 1500 truck origanate from

Are you having trouble with brake lamps? The orange wire is voltage for brake lamps, voltage comes from fuse. When brake switch is activated, the white wire goes hot, goes to turn signal switch. Your lower brake lamps are wired through turn signal switch.
Any other wires may be for cruise control, where applicable. I'm probably leaving something out, I just can't think what it is, at the moment?

Brake lights won't work replaced the fuse and the bulbs still nothing what can it be?

Find the brake light switch up under the drivers side of the dash. It will be mounted on a bracket near the brake pedal lever. Make sure one wire has power to it all the time. Make sure one of the other wires has power when the brake pedal is depressed. If no wires have power when depressed the switch is bad. If the wires have power than you probably have a bad turn signal switch. I can probably get you specific wire colors if you need them. Let me know if you have any questions and I'll do my best to answer them. Thank you for using!

I have a 2000 Chevy Astro Van. Sunday my husband changed the brake pads, and today none of my brake lights work. The left, right and the top center light. The signal lights, both left and right work , and...

Check the brake light switch. It is unr the drivers side of the dash and mounted on a bracket close to the brake pedal lever. There should be one wire that has power all the time and one WO that will only have power when the brake pedal is depressed. If no other wires have power with the brake pedal depressed the switch is bad. It is also possible that the switch was knocked out of adjustment. Either way a quick peak should reveal the problem Let me know if you have any questions and I'll do my best to answer them. Thank you for using!

1989 Chevy astro van rapid flashing engine light vehicle runs fine changed computer and prom chips. Runs fine for 28 miles then starts to flash rapidly. Vehicle runs fine.

These recurring check engine lights can really be a pain. Have you scanned for trouble codes? Sounds like it may be an O2 sensor, but we really need the trouble codes to be sure.

1995 wells cargo wiring diagram trailer brakes?

Here are some diagrams that are very useful when installing any kind of trailer wiring or connectors, and if installing an electric brake control unit be certain to follow the directions that are with the electric brake control unit because they will be very specific for that control unit. Test all connections with a test light before actually making any of the connections, and the connections should be soldered together and do not use wire connectors for the best results. Let me know if you require any further assistance.

I have a 1989 Chevrolet 1500 Wrangler pickup truck 2 door. Color light blue. When I turn the lights on the fuse blow out and the dash lights, tail lights and horn goes out as well.

ASE Mechanic:
sounds like a short in the wiring somewhere. If a trailer wiring harness was installed suspect that thing first. then start unplugging the lights and try to get the fuse not to blow. or with a bright light scope all the wires for those systems, and try to note the obivious.
