Question about Jaguar XJR

2 Answers

1995 jaguar xj6 dead battery and can't open trunk. please help,

The manual to the car is in the trunk.(just my luck) is there a latch somewhere to open the trunk manually I have a similar problem: the keyless entry unlocks everything (gas lid, all four doors) except the trunk. The trunk button and key no longer unlocks the trunk. Aside from having the lock removed by a dealer is there another means to access (unlock) the trunk of a 1998 XJR? Physical key manual access no longer works...otherwise everything else works fine...just can't unlock the trunk (need to get back there so I can replace a burnt-out brake light bulb). Halp!!

Perhaps I'm a bit confused - so please clarify...if the key bob or button in the car or manual key doesn't open the trunk while all the other keyless entry features work fine (gas cap unlocks, all 4 doors unlock, windows roll down) how would isolating voltage to the engine compartment fuse box enable the trunk release to function? Are you implying that a trunk fuse is not receiving a proper voltage? I'd like to try your solution but I don't see the connection (no pun intended, honest!) I'd also like to learn/understand how things work as well, thus my inquiry...thanx 4 your patience and I appreciate your responding - I'm just want to be sure that you don't think the battery in my car does NOT work...because as stated in the follow-on thread, everything else works fine - it's just the trunk won't unlock, remotely or manually. Thanks much! :-)

I simply opened the bonnet. Connected the battery charge positive to the + feed on the back of the alternator, connected the negative to the body. Turned it on, immediately the interior light comes on. Turn on the ignition press the cabin boot switch and it opens the boot. Charge battery as normal. Easy Peezy

You will need to use a jump box to put 12 volts to the engine compartment fuse box .Then you can
open trunk with key bob or button in car.

Have a1995 Vanderbilt Plas with dead battery and cant get in trunk...help!!!

Get another battery and make an adaptor cable with clamps for the battery plots at one end and a lighter jack (like the ones for phone car chargers) at the other. Now connect the cable accordingly (the minus plot on the battery to the side contact on the jack) and plug it in the lighter socket - now you will have enough power to open the trunk. Don't try to start the motor this way, it will fry the entire wiring harness.

Hello, I have a 2005 JAG 4 door, and the trunk is jammed and won't open. I tried to rock it up an down, but its still jammed, how do I get it to open?

Is the latch mechanism stuck? of had the vehicle been in an accident and the trunk lid is damaged? If it is just the latch, try removing the rear seat and access the inside of the trunk that way. Then you can manually try to open the latch.

My trunk latch is jammed on my 1995 Jaguar XJ6, not an electrical problem. How can I get it to open?

Have you tried using the actual key? If not, try inserting the key in the trunk hole while holding it to the open position, rock the trunk up and down. You may have a strap or something caught in the latch.

I f it is like the XJR, the cig lighter is electrically switched and will not work. Find the hot point and and ground in the passenger side heelboard. The ground is two wires together scewed to the body an the hot point was a bolt attacted to a large wire and covered with a black rubber boot.
