Question about 2003 Honda CR-V

No buzzer or bell for headlights being left on

Trying to find out if my 2003 Honda CR-V has a bell or buzzer that sounds when you turn off car and forget to turn the lights off. My car does not do this and the battery has been run down twice now because the lights were inadvertently left on. Any help in trying to figure out why would be appreciated.

I have run my battery down 4 or 5 times in the last 3 months on my 2003 CR-V due to leaving the headlights on, but I didn't do it once in the 5 years before that; so I'm assuming that previous to this recent timeframe, there was a sound/beep warning. Does anyone know if a fuse has gone bad, or had this problem and fixed it?

I used to hear a "ding-ding" when I'd get out of the car and the headlights were on. This was a reminder to turn them off. I had to replace the battery recently, and I haven't heard the "ding-ding" since then.

Also, I used to hear a "ding-ding" when the ignition was turned off, and I got out of the car without taking the keys out of the ignition. I don't hear that "ding-ding" either since the battery was replaced.

Could I have a blown fuse?

I had a similar problem -- my interior lights would not come on when I opened my driver's door, plus I wouldn't get a warning if I left the key in the ignition or the headlights on.

There is a switch covered with rubber on the door post. I removed the switch, sprayed just a slight amount of contact cleaner, made sure the switch worked by grounding it to the frame and pressing the switch in & out a couple of times. Then I carefully replaced it.

I attributed the problem to my seat belt buckle hitting the switch as I closed the door without checking to see if the seat belt had retracted properly.

Hope this is of some help.

Once you have removed the rubber cover from the switch, hold the metal portion of the switch against the door pillar as you depress the switch.

Watch to see if your inside light goes on/off as you depress/release the switch or leave your keys in the ignition and listen for the warning chime/buzzer.

To Guest and cbroverman -- have you tried checking the door switch on both the driver's and passanger's side? Check your fuses and if they are OK, give my suggestion a try.

Bikerbc - Excellent advice! You were spot on with my Honda CRV problem! My battery kept going dead because I would leave the lights on after driving to work through the dusk of morning. The door/lights chime had quit working and I thought it might be a fuse. I didn't think about the fact that the lights and door ajar are both on the same door switch. I checked the switch and found that it wasn't working properly so I pulled it and found that it had become unseated, fixed it, replaced it, and now I'm back in business! Before the internet and the sharing of information like this, it would have likely cost quite a bit to have a dealer or mechanic take care of minor problem. Thanks!

I have a 2004 Honda Civic that had the same problem: No headlight buzzer, no keys in ignition buzzer and no dome light when the door opened. It was the switch that's in the door jam. I pulled it out, checked the connections, reconnected it and IT WORKS fine now. It took one philips screwdriver and less than 2 minutes of time to fix a problem thats been going on for over 2 years.

Honda crv 2003 brake light fuse

For a 2003 Honda CRV, disconnect the horn fuse (#7), located in the under hood fuse box. This will also kill the rear lights. My underhood fuse box did not match glvenu's pic above, didn't have the 2 fuses circled together. The #7 fuse in my CR-V is located below the single fuse circled in the pic above.

Have a 2005 petrol Honda CRV and the "lights on" warning buzzer has ceased to function. The handbook does not indicate which fuse might have blown. Any help on finding it would be appreciated.

Not a honda lover but its probably easier if you brought that to a shop or check under the dash board drivers side. I dont think its a fuse or relay but a little bell. Now u describe it as a "petrol" Crv if its right hand drive I would presume its located near the fuse box near the foot panels of either the drivers or maybe the passenger side. Its should have a plug attached to it. If this doesnt help buy a repair manual located at the dealer of a local parts store.

Does 2003 honda civic lx have a headlamp warning buzzer?

Check you drivers side door switch. Make sure it works. The switch also work the dome light. If the dome light comes on and off when you open and close the door that you dont have a buzzer.

Headlights reminder buzzer malfunctions.

First does the dome light come on when the drivers door is opened? If not check the door switch, if it is not working, the circuit is not completed to turn on the buzzer.
