Is the timer located on your rear view mirror? if so then you may have accidentally pushed it too far, so that they turn off to quickly. If you have that type try pushing the little knob toward the middle, and that makes them stay on longer, and if you want them on longer still push it all the way to the right.
Hope this helps.

My question is my brake light wouldn't go off so I disconnected the battery, next day put on a brake switch and now SUV Ford Explor wont crank up or get in gear. Then got this guy to come look at it ,then...

Wow, you're all over the page with this request! :)
By saying "wont crank up or get in gear" I need to know, when you turn the key to start, does it in fact make the engine crank?
Make sure the shifter, if automatic, is all the way up into park.
Make sure battery is fully charged. Battery terminals are clean and tight.
Then turn key to on, not start yet. Are lights lighting up on instrument panel? Yes? No?
Try these things and let us know what you have.

The red battery light comes on intermittantly in my 2004 Ford Explorer (6 cylinder automatic) with 95K miles. Any ideas? It starts and runs fine.

Get the battery load tested and the alternator checked. An interstate battery place will do this free.

Lights dimmed out, engine died, battery new but not charging2004 ford explorer

have the alternator tested if your SUV has over 40.000 miles on it replace the drive belt as well also give these websites a try www.alldatadiy.com and www.autozone.com if all fails stop by your local library and get your hands on a Haynes auto repair manual for your SUV wish you the best of luck Michigan Man.
