Weak power, shaking engine ,engine light blinking, even in neutral

The check engine light can come on for many different reasons. There is only ONE reason for it to flash or "blinking" because excess or un-burned fuel is going into the exhaust and WILL damage the catalitic converter. The weak power and engine shaking is because not all cylinders in the engine are working. Most common causes are tune-up related. If you have a spark plug that does not work ( creates a spark to ignite the fuel which makes the engine run) this unburned fuel will go into the exhaust where the catalitic converter is located. This unburned fuel will cause excessively high temperatures in the converter and Will damage it. The most common reasons for no spark at the plugs- worn or defective spark plugs, spark plug wires or ignition coil. Hope this helps

The check engine light came on and instantly no acceleration just a major putt, putt, putt! What caused this?

First guess, catalitic converter. But you need to have the codes read first. This will point you in the right direction.

2001 Legacy Wagon Idles rough and has no power when in gear. Changed all the plugs, changed the exaust sensor. Check engine light still on after all that.

1 you need to get the code. 2 sounds like the catalitic converter is bad. If the code was for the exhaust sensor, the catalitic converter will pop this code.

Have a 2008 Chevy Aveo. The check engine light is on w/a po420 code. The dealer shpwed me a TSB that stated that this is a problem w/the catalytic converter but first have to replace all 4 injectors. Does...

TSB are technican sevice buliton
since this is an emmission problem for both catalitic and injectors
it should be covered under emmission warranty (check to be sure)
injectors could be overfuelling causing catalitic to malfunction setting off codes
or pluging up with carbon

2002 Toyota Rav4....check engine light""is

Here are two of the most common causes of the check engine light.

Most common, MAF ( mass air flow ), sensor. A faulty MAF prevents the computer from determining the correct fuel/air mix ratio.

Oxygen sensor. ( front and rear, front meaning before the catalytic converter, rear meaning after the catalitic converter. The front measures the fuel/air mix being sent through the catalitic converter, the back measures the emmisions and lets the computer know if any fuel/air mix ratios need to be adjusted. Both of these can trigger the check engine light.

I hope this helps you.

Check engine light stays on.

you can diconnect the positive battery cable for 30 secs. or take it to autozone they can reset it for free. try waiting a day or two the engine must go through so many cycles without any problems before the light will go out. If it doesnt go out there is still a problem. More than likely if you changed catalitic converters and the light stays on it probaly has a bad O2 sensor.

Check engine light indicating a need to replace the catalitic converter. What is the warranty on catalitic converters

usually 100,000 miles , some are 70,000 miles. just call your local toyota dealer parts or service dept. , or look in your owners manual under the warranty section of your manual.

Good luck with your problem

Engine light wont go off.

The catalitic converter is a mechanical device , it simply converts harmful emissions into water/vapour. The 02 sensor if faulty would put the engine management light on. If the 02 sensor has been faulty for sometime it could tell the ECU to supply the wrong amount of fuel to the engine which in turn would eventually damage the catalitic convertor. So you may have to change both in the end, but first I would check out the 02 sensor and replace if required.

Green light

First step scan the vehicule to read check engine codes always stay in the computer memory if the check engine light is off. If no have or find scanner to do it you can read the codes manually with a light tester in the pin 16 to ground with the ignition turned on and hold by 5 sec in the conector under the dash. Be carefull!! and try to download the service manual before to avoid any damage to electric system in there if explained the complete procedures or try this The l/b light work with the catalitic converter and the oxigen sensor can be the check engine light problem check it or replaced if necesary.
