Question about 2001 Daewoo Lanos

1 Answer

Lost Over-drive???? All of a sudden I just noticed that my t65 tranny is not shifting into overdrive. It acts like when I put it in 3rd or drive, it goes through all 4 gears just as smooth as ever, however, does not shift for the 5th time regardless of speed. Symptom, you can tell when you leave shifter in 3rd gear, it goes through all 4 gears just as smooth as ever, and you can tell your still in 4th by letting off the gas going down a hill and you can feel 4th is slowing down car and tack slowly slows down. However, if you put car in drive and let off gas going down hill, the tack will drop to 900 or so RPM, and the tranny does not slow car at all. Just as if you had put in neutral. I have replaced filter/fluid, and installed a new throttle position sensor to no avail. HELP! should I replace the PCM (Powertrain Control Module)? I have the same "lost over-drive" problem..Please advise..2001 daewoo lanos..

If the transmission is not shifting, could it be the vaccum modulator?

when was the last time the tranny had a new filter put in with new fluid? if the vacuum module was bad, it would suck all the tranny fluid out of the tranny and into the engine from vacuum and you would be smoking out the tail pipe..

Will not shift out of 2nd gear

Tranny most likely shot. I believe yours is a T-5, I had the same issue years back but in 3rd gear. Usually the clutch going out is a gradual thing. So I would have a tranny shop look at it. Maybe find a cheap rebuilt tranny for ya.Look online or a trusted shop.

Transmission is going past 3000 rpm before shifting into 3rd gear then quickly into overdrive with a studder.

1st check your fluid level, if its good I would suggest taking it in to your mechanic and have them service the transmission which involves dropping the tranny pan and replacing the filter and reinstall pan with new gasket and top fluid levels. A step further would be also have a tranny flush which will cost more due to labor and all the fluid neccesary to flush the system.

1999 chevy lumina doesn't shift into overdrive, why?

If it won't go into overdrive a speed sensor within the transmission may not be sending the shift signal to the transmission. Check fluid levels to make sure that's not causing the problem. Also, check that the fluid is red color and clean.

Transmission probably needs to be serviced at a reputable shop if you want this problem fixed.

Ford Ranger 98'Splash don't shift 3rd and

you will need to connect it ti a scanner to confirm but it sounds like your solenoid (there is a solenoid that controls those gears inside your tranny) the part is actually cheap and should take no time to replace. the cost comes in a way of replacing the tranny fluid that will be lost.

1990 f150 transmission up shift to early

Sounds like the passing gear cable is out of adjustment. Get a shop manual and see what the specs are on how to adjust it properly. It is a pretty simple fix.

Transmission does not shift into 3rd and/or overdrive

Well, you could try changing the speed sensor, or modulator valve, which ever that model has. And change the filter and fluid. If it's plugged many of the problems you describe could occur. Good luck.

I have a '03 Chevy Suburban 1500, 5.3L engine. When the transmission shifts from 3rd into overdrive(4), the rpm's rev up, this doesn't happen all the time but enough to notice it! Would a tranny flush...

Sounds like your "lockup torque converter" is going bye bye. You can buy some time by disconnecting the wiring the engages it. Or drive around in 3rd but ultimately your tranny is going to fail from contamination. You can confirm this by dropping the trans pan and checking for debris. You probably also experienced a "shudder" or "vibration" maybe months ago instead of the reving up symptom. That would have been an early symptom. Now it's probably too late. If you do have the trans replaced, make SURE that the cooler gets a thorough flush or the life of the new tranny will be shortened.
