Question about 1992 Oldsmobile 88

1 Answer

92 Olds 88 Starts only in warm weather or supercharging battery

Somneone else replaced the ignition module; plugs and wires. The plug wiring is in the right order. (But I do not know if the internal coil wiring was done right). The MAF sensor has a broken housing and visibly bent plate (If the ''copper'' metal plate I can see is the sensor plate). The O rings we were told need to be replaced in the fuel injectors. Is that a job I can handle myself with basic tools and a handyman's approach?

The O rings on the fuel injection system can be tricky to install. the problem is usually during reinstallation the O rings get pinched. It is possible to replace them yourself. but I would take it to a shop if I had to replace them. the MAF sensor being crushed is not good either.

Replace the MAF sensor. I take it you don't get any spark at the spark plugs ? Am I right ? Check the firing order at the coil . The number one coil plug has a mark on it. Crank the engine to see which direction the rotor is running. Clockwise or counter clockwise. then follow the firing order in that direction.

Car skips at constant speed, loses power, then dies.

Check fuel filter it might need replacing, then have fuel pump checked.

My 92 olds 88 royale will go for a few minutes then just die and sometimes wont start back for hours!!

check your wiring harness that plugs into the coil pack and see if the wires are melted or showing. i have a 92 and the wires melted together and it was doing the same thing and it also could be your coilpack or your ignition control module (icm)

My 92 olds cutlass has a 3300 engine. there is no spark at the plugs and I have had the ignition module tested at two places and it passed.

If you haven't tested the actual ignition wires to the plugs and from the coil, you may be missing a common problem.

I would check the crankshaft and camshaft sensors. I don't think the connections are wrong, they really only go on 1 way.
