Question about 1996 Dodge Intrepid
I have a 96 intrepid 3.5L with the 42LE automatic trans . the problem is after I park the car it won't shift from low to high . however , I can make it shift properly when I turn the ignition off then on again (while rolling or at a stop) . I've replaced the input & output speed sensors with no improvement.Has anyone run across this before ? sure would appreciate any help you can give me .
Iv'e ran across this before, Try this.. unhook the postive Battery terminal for a few minutes then replace. I had the same problem with my intrepid years ago and it took care of it and never had a problem with again! Hope this works for You!

Automatic transmission, 42LE Initial Fill..........4.6 quarts
automatic transmission, Total Fill
4 speed 42LE..........9.3 quarts
Differential, Front..........1.5 pints
1. With ENG at operating temperature, shift through all gears. Check fluid level in PARK and add fluid as needed.
2. 42LE transaxles built after 7-26-99 fill to 3/8" (9mm) below fill hole.
Hope This Helps.
********Make sure that you use the recommended type flluid ATF+4, as there are several types available. Using the wrong type of fluid will damage your transmission********
