Question about 2001 Honda Accord

Malfunction Indicator Light

I have a 2003 Honda Accord 6cyl. My light came on 2wks ago. I took it to autozone and they did a diagnostic and said it was my EVAP valve and cannister. The light started flashing today and shut my engine down. Just wanted an FYI (if possible) on the cost of repairs.

The cost will depend on what else the shop deems necessary to complete the job after they retrieve all of the codes. Usually, the EVAP canister will be replaced and they will remove the EGR valve to clean the carbon out of the inlet /outlet tubes. Total generally 2-3 hours labor will be $250+-, and then add in the cost of the parts.

My malfunction indicator light has been on for the past couple of weeks. I just replaced all the spark plugs and coils about 6 months ago because my light was coming on then. I took it to my local autozone...

Bear in mind that the guys at autozone were delivering news papers two weeks ago and the generic analyzer they use costs less than $45.00. It is a 2004 Honda, you can spend a buck on it. Take it to a real shop with real mechanics and have them put a real analyzer on it.

How to reset malfunction indicator lamp on honda accord

You need to hook up your diagnostic tool to the connector beneath your steering, read the error code and look for its its meaning in a Honda Error code book.
or

disconnect your battery terminals, allow 10 minutes and then reconnect, that should clear the check light. if the check light comes on again, it implies that the reason for the fault is yet to be cleared.

MY 2000 TYPE V HONDA ACCORD MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LAMP LIGHT CAME ON AND STAYED ON. WHAT COULD BE THE PROBLEM AND HOW CAN I FIGURE IT OUT WITHOUT GOING TO THE DEALER OR REPAIR SHOP

You indicator light is telling you that it has codes ready to indicate what the problem is, or what the problem your computer thinks exists. Autozone or a place of the same sort would be happy to hook up their code reader to you OBD-II port and see what those codes are, for no charge.
Hope this helps you.

Honda accord 2003 v6

If you live near an AutoZone they used to offer free check engine light diagnostics.
See what code they can retreive from the computer with their device and check it against the list of codes. It may not just be a missing Gas cap code. There are hundreds of codes computers can return.

Best Wishes.

2003 Honda Accord Check Engine / Maintenaice Requeried

If you brought your car to Honda for service, they probably forgot to reset the maintenance reminder. If you took it to another shop, they probably did not know how to reset it. Anyway, the reset procedure is:

Put your key in the ignition
Turn the key to the II position for a couple of seconds
Then turn the key to the off position
Now push and hold in the odometer reset button
While still holding the odometer reset button, turn the key back to the II position
Hold for I think 10 seconds or so and your maintenance reminder light should reset it self.
