Its a long process, you need a steering wheel puller, once its off take the hazard button assembly out, take the turn signal loose, pull old ignition out, carefully install new one, and reverse procedure and always if u get confused i would highly recomend
a chiltons manual they explain things great

take off the cover on the top and bottom of the steering column just behind the wheel. pop the tilt lever out simply just by grabbing it and give it a good tug. then once you have the new switch and you get in there your going to need an inverted torx socket to remove the small bolts that hold the switch to the column. do not move the gear on the new switch make sure it lines up exactly as the old one did!!!!!!!!!!!!

My ignition key is stuck in the tumbler. problem just started.i cannot get it loose what do i do. 1994 gmc 5.7 ltr 4x4 sierra truck

you can try using graphite powder in the ignition switch if you can remove the key,put the powder on the key & push it in & out to work the powder into the switch, don't use any spray type lubricants as this only attracts dust & clogs the switch up even more....hope this helps.....cheers

How to replace ignition key in 1997 gmc sierra 2500,,tack and speedo don't work but all other gauges work

for the ignition key you have to take off the two plastic covers on the steering column. (three torx screws) remove the ignition switch and it is righ there. your speedometer has a direct cable into the transmission and should be a fairly easy repair
