Question about 2005 Mazda MPV

Open Question

Mazda MPV 2005 went thru deep puddle, whole van shakes

Was driving in rain at night and accidentally went thru deep puddle. The van immediately started shaking. Went home and shut off engine. Figured I'd let it dry overnight. Started in morning and shook for a few seconds and then stopped. Turned on AC and van started shaking like when I first emerged from puddle. I parked the van and opened the hood and started the engine. The hose in front of the radiator and possibly the fan are vibrating. I was wondering if anyone knows if there is permanent damage, what possibly could have happened by going through the puddle and what I should do in the meantime. Thanks in advance.

SOURCE: shaking mazda mpv 2003 in idle and loud radiator fan

Hello there, As far as the check engine light I would think since you mentioned it shacking that your light will probably be on for a misfire, Meaning most likely you have a spark plug wire going bad. I would stop by somewhere such as Autozone for a free check to tell you why your light is on just to double check.

Your fan issue could be several different things such as the fan motor going bad or the blades could be rubbing something, that one is a little tricky without hearing it.

Good Luck and I hope this does help you some. Allen

SOURCE: 2004 mazda rx8 cranks but won't start

Sounds like you flooded it not with water but with fuel due to moving car with out warming it up all the way before shutting it off. You can take it to the dealer and get a flash update to prevent this in the future. To deflood remove spark plugs and let sit with fan on them over night to dry out. Replace and start cranking for 15 seconds at a time till she starts up. GL!

Went through puddle during raining day,the car started smoking never shut off.It started up with no problem the next day,but later that night it shut off while driving and now won't start 2010 accent

When you say "now won't start" does the starter motor spin the engine the engine just never fires, or does the starter motor not even spin the engine? Do all the electrical accessories seem to work correctly? How deep was the puddle? Did the "smoke" smell like something melting, or might it have just been steam from water on the hot exhaust?

My daughters 2007 Odyssey loses power in rain. It started when she went through a deep puddle coming from work at night. Now whenever there is rain it has little power.

Possible the trip throught the deep puddle soaked the alternatior when water got above the splash guard mounted on the under carrage suggest you check all of the electrical wiring amd relays to see if any are wet or are now exposed to the weather. Good luck. Fixes for deep puddle adventures can be difficult to find and fix.

We have this exact problem with our 2004 Mazda MPV, so it has nothing to do with it being a convertible. Sorry no answers as to why it's leaking, though.

I suspect the chassis was damaged by the tree falling. Take it to a Mazda main agent for assessment.
