There are not any lights that come on (e.i - Check engine) and this happens about once a week where I am idling at a red light and the car shuts off, but restarts w/o any problems. There are not any lights that come on (e.i - Check engine) and this happens about once a week where I am idling at a red light and the car shuts off, but restarts w/o any problems.

There are lots of ideas here, but due to the fact you can smell gas, clean the Throttle Body with spray cleaner. It isn't shutting properly. Clean the MAF (Mass Air Fuel) sensor as well.
Hello. It seems the torque converter in your car is malfunctioning/defective; if your car has an automatic transmission. If your car has a manual transmission, the 'clutch', 'pressure plate' and 'throw-out bearing' must be removed and replaced. Malfunctioning torque converters for automatic transmission vehicles and clutches for manual transmission vehicles will cause them to 'jerk' while driving and 'stall' the engine because they won't engage and disengage like they are supposed to. Good luck and keep me informed; if you want to.
keeps on stalling when stopping - IAC idle air control valve , dirty throttle plate , IAC air passage clogged . Video's on youtube showing how to test . Hooking up a scan tool an checking engine sensor data parameters ,or taking to a qualified repair shop.
I would check the fuel pressure and replace the fuel filter if it hasn't been replaced for awhile. The last 2 fuel filters I changed, the gas coming out of it looked like black ink.
