Why does the truck start up and idle for about 10 seconds and shut down like it is out of fuel?

fuel pressure bleeding off 2 things can cause this bad check valve in pump or leaking fuel pressure regulator.

Check for vacuum leaks eg. PVC hose power booster and hoses around manifold area.

Starts but wont run after ignition switch is returned to the run position from the start position.

The problem is that when you have the switch in the START position, you are getting power to the ignition system, but not when in the RUN position. Most likely causes are a bad ignition switch, a faulty aftermarket alarm system [if it has one] or a bad ballest resistor wire going to the ignition coil's + terminal. You need to break out your test light and start checking to see where the fault lies.

MY 1989 FORD BRONCO WILL START UP RUN FOR ABOUT 15 MIN THEN IT DIES IF YOU WAIT ABOUT A HOUR IT WILL START BACK BUT DOSE THE SAME THING

Have you figured out if you are lacking fuel or spark when it fails to start back up ? Lack of fuel could be a pump relay, lack of spark could be the ignition module or the EEC relay.

1989 Ford Probe engine stalls. Will run intermittent and run up to 5k RPM...then die. I hear fuel relay click under dash (replaced w/fuel pump, inertia switch & fuel rail regulator). Wiring? Air hose...

First, the power relay turns on engine computer. Then the engine computer turns on the fuel pump relay which in turn, turns on the fuel pmp for 5 seconds, unless the engine is running. If you have a new pump, check for spark right after it dies next time.

My 1989 F-150 will run for a short period and die. Replace fuel filter, check fuel pump behind filter,it's working. What else my be wrong?

your fuel pump may be working but a certain amount of pressure is required to maintain proper flow of fuel ....a few places will do a fuel pressure test for you for free such as a parts store to help you determine if proper fuel pressure is present ...
