My oil light went on, followed by sounds

I have a 2001 toyota corrolla. my oil light went on so i immediately checked the oil. it was near empty. i filled it up. my car still runs fine, its the sounds that bother me. the sounds are like pinging/rattling and began immediately after putting in the oil. the light is still on despite the oil i placed in it. what should i do? is the engine ruined from driving from lack of oil? it seems to run fine as after i put the oil back in i drove it around, including the freeway. it has 125,000 miles and has given very little problems. til now.

I think you might have done damage, all depends how long it ran without oil, i can only guess what the noise is, but from experance its either the lifters lost prime from lack of oil, or a rod bearing has spun from lack of oil, if its lifters it may come out of it, if they pump back up, the only way to know if they will or not is to run it and see if the noise goes a way, if its a rod there is no cure except a rebuild or replacement. Whatever, you need to find out where the oil went in the first place, got a leak, burning it or what.

It could be a number of things but the main problem for that type of noise is the lifters or rocker gears

Hi my toyota corrolla verso radhaeters anti freeze water turns to cream at the top

I'd check the oil and see if you have any "cream" or discoloration of the oil as well.
Sounds like you may have oil mixing into the water...(usually looks like a chocolate milkshake.)
If this is the case, you may have a warped head (from getting too hot) or there might be an area where the water & oil jets are close and merely separated by a gasket. (i.e. Ford's 4.6 oil filter & upper water hose housing.)

Oil in water or water in oil either way isn't too good.

If after checking oil and its not "creamy" as well...maybe a good radiator flush would help.

Hope this helps...

I have a 1996 toyota corrolla......there is a rapid clicking noise everytime i try to start it! what should i do?

Does it start, does it run and have a rapid ticking. Need more info.sounds like its your lifters in the motor. try checking and adding oil first. When your oil level runs low the oil pump cant pick up the oil therefore not sending it to higher parts of the motor.

Toyota Corrolla 1989

The mechanic should check on the Idle and adjust the Idle .the car is vibrating because of the Idle is low and the engine can't do to move very easy .there is low fuel coming from the fuel pump going to the engine. The transmission of the car don't have a problem because of you just change the oil . But the Idle has to be adjusted until the car will not vibrate.

Day light sensor

The sensor is on top of the dash panel, and it is a real job to remove it. It is a black dome-looking thing.
