Not sure what region you live in, but if you have an autozone or equivalent parts place, most of them perform free diagnostics so that you can obtain the trouble codes. Generally the light flashing indicates a random misfire. Some possible solutions are (1) replace the spark plugs, and spark plug wires (2) If the problem has persisted it may have also affected one or more ignition coil packs, if that is the case whichever ones have been affected would need to be replaced to solve the problem. Again these are some possibilities based on the limited information given. If you drive the car for too long in this condition depending on the year make and model you could also quite easily burn up the catalytic converter. I would get this seen about as soon as possible. changing the plugs, wires, and ignition coil packs are something almost anyone can do so it shouldn't be a super expensive repair.
Hope this helps.

Hi

Check your engine oil and coolant levels, and go from there !
Have a look in the hand book in the glove box ? to see if you can see what the light is warning you of !

Good Luck !

Let me know the outcome !

John.

A FixYa rating would be nice !!!

Spanner showing on dash when engine running vauxhall vectra c

VECTRA CAR WITH SPANNER WARNING LIGHT This Vauxhall Vectra car with spanner warning light illuminates or flashes yellow. Light will illuminate for around 3 seconds when the ignition is switched on. If the fault light illuminates whilst the engine is running, this signifies a fault within the engine or gearbox electronics system. The system will switch to emergency mode where fuel consumption may increase and the vehicles drivability reduced. A Vauxhall workshop must be consulted. If the light flashes whilst the engine is running, this signifies a fault within the electronic immobiliser system and the engine will not be able to be restarted.

On 3 occasions have had 3 loud audible warning beeps, but no warning lights come on, when stationary at traffic lights, with neutral gear and handbrake on.

Sound like a brake on warning so you don't put in gear and drive with the break on however a brake light should come on but it maybe Burt out

Ford focus 1.6 zitec petrol, engine warning light flashing, engine chugging, very high fuel consumption, fumes smell when stationary, exhaust seems ok, recently change speed sensor and coil pack?

try the air filter first and the intake.the spark plugs then and after all go to a garage for checking compression timing and the head gasket.

Glow light flashes

Correct - the glow light flashing is an indication that there is fault. Often this is associated with a blown brake bulb or faulty brake switch.

needs a vehicle speed sensor, its on the trans. if the engine was just put in( within like 2 or 3 days, not weeks) then it may have been busted in the engine swap. hope this helps and good luck

Coil light flashing

Hi Robert
From the brief description of your problem I'm guessing your vehicle is a Diesel? as the light you refer to sounds like the Glow Plug warning. When you turn on the ignition from cold the light comes on for around 5 to 10 seconds and then you start engine Yes?
If the light is coming on after vehicle is warmed up the glow plugs will upset the combustion and ruin your performance, so I would be looking at glow plug timer fault.
Hope this FixYa's problem!
