Question about 1993 Chevrolet S-10

1994 Chevy S10 4.3L sputters, revs, jerks terribly

I have replaced the fuel filter, spark plugs and wires, dist cap, alternator, and has been in shops 14 times. One shop said they replaced a part in the distributor and it worked far better for a few days only. I thought it was fixed but it jerked a couple times and then back to jerking plenty. When it gets hot like in traffic it nearly dies and I have to shut it off and then start it up just to make it go. On highway it can run ok if no traffic. You can hear static in the radio when problem is present. Perhaps it is related to old wires. Not sure but the wires are quite old, I refer to those connecting all the stuff and not the spark plug wires.

Take a look at the coil pack. its seperate from the distributor. you can follow the wire on the distributor cap that says coil to find it. even though it may appear ok it could still be going bad. that would cause static and a sputter condition. its a good starting point. also, fuel pump could be getting weak. but the coil and plug wires would be your best bet to start with

Your car has front disc brakes, the disc's are running out of true, as u apply the brake this causes the steering wheel to shake, the higher the speed the more u feel this, the solution is to have the front brake disc's machined true again on a brake lathe or if they are to thin replace them.

check fuel filter,or fuel injectors, fuel pressure regulator.Also check fuel filler cap.Check exhaust system for plugged catalytic converter,muffler,bent exhaust pipes,etc.

might pull that cap again and see if the dist. shaft is loose
(side to side play) Sometimes the bushing wears out and the
magnet will hit the pickup,makes the spark irratic.Should have a new rotor with the cap,they also go bad.

How to tune up 96 chevy corsica


You will need a 3/8" drive ratchet with a 5/8" spark plug socket. There is no distributor on these engines so you won't require a dist. cap. You will want to change spark plugs, ignition wires, air filter, fuel filter and pcv valve. There are no other adjustments.

Put an injector noid light at the injector plug terminals to see if your getting a signal from the PCM(computer).If not try to find a computer from the same vehicle that works and swap it into yours to check.A PCM swap will take about 15minutes.
