Question about 2004 Dodge Stratus

Oil light on a 2004 dodge stratus

My oil light comes on all the time even after i get it changed. Recently though it comes on and just doesn't turn off. I change it every 3000 miles which is pretty much every 2 to 2 1/2 months it started out as just a flicker, once i drove the first 30 miles each day and when the car hit about 20 mph it popped on. Now by the time i hit the drive way it comes on and rarely goes off. I just don't want it to be anything serious because right now i really can't affored to fix it. So if anyone thinks its definately something that needs to be looked at let me know.

Thanks so much!

My oil light came on when the oil was low but when I added more oil it did not stop coming on. It came on more often and stayed on longer. I thought I might have added too much but then some started leaking until it got low again. I just changed my oil and filter and it still does it.

I had the same problem. First it was the oil sending sensor, then the upper and lower gaskets were replaced. Now the light only comes on after I have driven for a few miles

It could also be a malfunctioning sensor. your best bet is to take it to a shop and have them check it out. might cost a few dollars now but its better than a blown engine and it will give you piece of mind knowing exactly whats wrong

I have a 2002 Dodge Stratus, When I come to a stop, the oil tight comes on but, when I take my foot off the breaks and asccelerate ( or put any gas to it) the light goes out. PLEASE HELP!

You are developing low oil pressure at idle this is a common problem with Dodge stratus. If you fail to have it fix you will definetly loose the timing chain and the whole enginecansmo_198.gif

Oil light comes on when engine reaches temperature. Sometimes different speeds will turn it off. Intially came on only at slower speeds, but recently comes on at times at highway speeds. What's the...

Check wiring to oil sensor, and/or renew the oil sensor on the engine, external component that costs a few $ and is easy to swap (usually near the oil filter). After that and if still happening have it checked as it could be oil pump failure.

Oil light comes on below 1000 rpm's 1998 dodge stratus

If there is really a problem, resetting the computer won't fix it...if there is not a problem, you can reset and the light will stay off. After reset, you may have to drive the car a couple of hours before the light would come back on, because the computer...for lack of a better term..."re-learns" before giving proper readings. If your oil pressure is actually dropping, and it is not a computer glitch or a sending unit problem, then you likely have a problem with your oil pump. Good Luck! I hope you find this to be very helpful!

2004 dodge stratus oil light started coming on when I slowed down or cam to a stop and then would turn off when I started driving again. Now it stays on al the time

You need to have that chk'd out. Even low oil pressure can damage the engine let alone no oil pressure. Ck your oil level. It is a serious issue to have that light on. Good Luck, _Ned_

Oil light fickers or stays solid when braking

I had the same problem on a 2002 Stratus. I also had a Diagnostics Code of P0455(EVAP leak). I replaced the gas cap and this fixed the problem. I don't know what EVAP leak had to do with the oil pressure light coming on, but the new gas cap fixed it.

Check the engine oil level in your engine. If you also get the oil light coming on when making a hard corner along with when you brake sometime, it might be that the oil is just a bit lower than it should be and the movement (sloshing) of the oil in the oil pan might cause the oil pickup in the engine to be starved for oil for a few seconds.
