Need to replace far back speaker in 99 mountaineer. How does the cover come off

The cover is separate, but I don't remember if it's plastic welded on from the factory. I would recommend removing all of the screws, removing the panels between sides in the rear door jamb area and pull the entire panel back to get to the speaker. There's actually a few good write-ups on speaker removal/installation on the web. The Mountaineer is the same as the Explorer, just under Mercury's name, so don't forget to also look under Explorer if you're looking for vehicle tips. When reassembling the panel, to get the screws to line up with the holes, my trick is to use a long pointed pick or electrical test light, poke through the panel into the screw hole. Once I get the hole, hold the panel, remove the pick and install the screw. I've done this work for 30 years.

Where is amplifier plug location 2001 explorer

In the rear of your explorer, remove the right rear factory speaker. Look up in the hole exposed. That is where your factory amplifier lives. Whether you are trying to test, bypass, replace, or tap into the factory amp for an upgrade, all the wires are above the factory speaker hole. If you are doing a complex integration, it is fairly simple to remove the plastic panel that covers the entire area. How To Bypass Factory Explorer amp

Need keyless entry code for a 04 an 99 ford explorer

On your 99 model the module is located behind the left quarter trim panel,mid-way.You maybe able to see it by removing the speaker cover or the cupholder on top. The module will have a sticker with a 5 digit code.
On the 04 the model is behind the right quarter trim panel toward the front about even with the right rear door stricker.

1999 explorer stock subwoofer

I would be very proud of that truck as the sub that came with the truck was only a 8". The only one that works is the factory model as it is a 1 1/2 - 2 ohm speaker; replacements are 4ohm. You will have to replace the amp as well if you put in an aftermarket sub. Oh and apparently the amp will have to have "speaker level" inputs as opposed to pre-amp inputs. I have a 1999 Eddie Bauer wih a blown sub and I'm trying to decide what to do as well. The speaker is $400 with tax in Canada! Good luck.
