Question about 1997 Chrysler Sebring

1997 Sebring won't start after head replacement!

4 months ago (after owning the car for only 4 days), my 1997 Sebring LX shut down on in interstate. Turns out the timing belt broke, and it bent valves, as well. I finally saved up the money to fix it....Replaced the timing belt, pulleys, head, gaskets, water pump, etc., but my car still won't start. She does turn over, and she has spark. You can smell gas, so she's getting fuel. After 4 months and quite a bit of money, I'm very frustrated, and begging for any help that anyone can give....thank you.

Here we go:

Check
timing marks are correct. Cam is in time with crank.
proper spark plug wiring sequence.
look at actual timing.

Car does not have to be running to check the actual timing. Hook up timing light and crank motor. Light should flash so you can look at timing marks to see if you are "Close enough" to fire off.

If cam and crank are not in time, you may have bent the valves again. Check compression. It will tell you the answer.

Good luck

I don't know your depth of knowledge so don't be insulted-
Did you use a service manual to guide you though this?  The position of the timing belt is very critical; two teeth off and while the interference between valves and pistons may not happen, the engine isn't likely to start. If you haven't replaced the sparkplugs, several may be damaged from the earlier failure.
Also, anytime you smell gasoline and know you have no leaks anywhere, hold the gas pedal to the floor while you crank. If the engine is flooded, that will allow more air than normal to enter the cylinders and dry out the plugs allowing it to fire again. Pumping the accelerator is a quick path to a seemingly dead engine.

No buS after complete engine shutdown. Has previously had difficulties with shutting down only to re-start when keyed.

After doing a lot of reading on bus errors in Chrysler models, I've found that Chrysler did a lot of changing/upgrading between the 1980s when the CCD (Chrysler Collision Detection) bus was introduced and 2005, when most models were switched to the CAN (Controller Area Network) bus system. In between those two, from 2001 through 2004 for most models, they used the PCI (Programmable Communication Interface) bus system.
With the older CCD bus system, apparently many NOBUS errors could be corrected by changing the crank position sensor, as it was one of the signals carried by the bus. Or it could be corrected by changing the PCM or instrument cluster.
For the PCI system, ALL controllers with microprocessors (PCM, TCM, BCM, instrument cluster, anti-lock brake controller, air bag controller, keyless entry, sound system, etc) are linked to the PCI bus. So a NOBUS error message in the odometer only says that there is a communication fault in the bus; it can't tell you which module/microprocessor is not working properly or if it's a wiring error. Changing out the PCM may correct the problem since the PCM is the 'dominant' module, but no guarantees.
Reading forums and other web sites regarding this issue, the prevailing advice is to use a DRB scanner capable of communicating with the different modules to see if they are all communicating properly. But it seems that the fault most often lies in a poor ground connection or damaged wiring or connectors.
If your local mechanics are stumped, find one (or go to a dealer) who can do troubleshooting of all modules with appropriate scanners. It may be a quick fix, but you'll have to invest in the expertise of someone who knows what to look for and how to diagnose it.

My 2001 Mitsubishi galant just completely shut down on the interstate a few days ago The engine control fuse was blown replaced in the car started for about maybe 100 miles since then I have not been

Take out the ECU and remove the metal case. Look for leaking electrolytic caps and/or a fishy smell. If you see any burned areas, the ECU is dead.

1997 buick hard to start why?

Have the fuel; pump checked for pressure bleed down after sitting, it should hold pressure within 5 PSI of rated running pressure after shutting sown the engine for extended periods.

1987 ford f150 shut off and will not turn over to start

If it cranks but won't start, you will need to figure out if you are dealing with a spark or fuel problem to proceed.
Check those things and let me know what you find.

For about 4 months now my 2007 sebring shuts off for no reason after driving on the highway. The oil light comes on and the car shuts off with the key still in the ignition and the car still in drive. I...

Anytime the oil light goes on, I would think that the pressure has dropped, assuming the oil sending unit is working properly.

How long ago was the engine oil changed?
I had a low oil pressure signal in a 1997 Cadillac Deville LImousine which went away after I had the engine oil changed.

Sometimes, the wrong viscosity or oil break down can cause the oil pump not to generate enough pressure for the oil pressure light to go on.

I looked at the Recalls for the 2.7L engine and couldn't find anything regarding engine oil pressure light going on mistakenly, but this doesn't mean that it's not a problem on your vehicle. There are 2 other sized engines for this vehicle.

So, what's the engine size for this Chrysler Sebring?
Does the engine smoke at all after all of this?

2001 Sebring Convertible Starter Fuse Problem

The reason that you are blowing fuses is that your starter is drawing too much current. This usually means that the starter is failing (too much internal resistance). By increasing the size of the fuse yoiu are running more current through the wires than they are designed to handle. This can melt the insulation and maybe start a fire.
